The Fielding boys football team kicked off this years Peal Shield campaign with a game against Edward Betham. Edward Betham are normally a well organised team so we were expecting it to be a good game. Edward Betham started quickest in a scrappy start to the game as they took advantage of a defensive mistake to take the lead. With the game being so scrappy, there weren't a lot of clear chances but the boys showed great resilience to keep battling. Eventually, that fight paid off as we scored an equaliser through Noah. The goal lifted the team and it wasn't much longer before Emile stepped up with a great volleyed finish to give Fielding the lead just before half time. In the second half, both teams were fighting for the win but again both keepers weren't tested a great deal. After a close second half, the game ended with the score 2-1 to Fielding to give us a great start to the competition.
Unfortunately, Edward Betham have only entered a boys team into this years competition and so our girls team weren't in action. Both teams are now training for their next game against Woodlands though to be played at Fielding on Friday 19th October.
