Last week, Talya (3S) and Jacob (1H) took part in the 10th West Surrey Chess Championships. Both Talya and Jacob participate in Fielding's Mindful Chess specialist club, but this was their first opportunity to play competitively outside school. Jacob won first prize in the Under 7's category, and Talya won second prize in the Under 8's.

In June, Talya, along with others in her chess club, will be representing Fielding in the Delancey UK Chess Challenge, the country's largest chess competition.
