The purpose of the Values Newsletter is to continue raising the profile of values‑based living, values in action, across our school, led and shaped by the children themselves. Each month, the newsletter will highlight the school’s chosen value for KS1 and KS2. This month, our focus is Reflection. Inside, you will find ideas, reflections, and practical suggestions to help bring this value to life both in school and at home. A special section is also included to support families in exploring empathy together.

These newsletters will sit alongside our existing values posters and classroom resources, enriching lessons and offering further opportunities for children to reflect on what our values look like in everyday practice.

This new menu reflects our shared commitment to healthy eating, variety, sustainability, and creating mealtimes children genuinely enjoy.

We are delighted to announce the latest results in our Values Baccalaureate, with pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 once again demonstrating their commitment to our four core values across school, home and the wider community. The Values Baccalaureate is a key part of our values‑based education programme, designed to help pupils apply respect, resilience, empathy and reflection in meaningful, real‑life ways.

Nursery holiday club will be running from Monday 30^th March to Thursday 2^nd April and Tuesday 7^th April to Friday 10^th April 2026.

We are planning two fun-filled weeks with some exciting activities planned, including, Easter-themed baking/cooking, lots of art, craft and sensory activities, outdoor group games and music and dancing. This Easter we will be making Easter cupcakes, pizza and fruit skewers to enjoy. We will also be looking at Spring with spring-themed activities and play. 

There will be plenty of outdoor play and visits to the pirate ship, fielding forest and school field if the weather allows. We hope to visit the kitchen garden in school to see what is growing. We may even find a frog in the pond!

Meals

Breakfast is included for the 7.30-8am session. Please provide a healthy packed lunch and snack for tea labelled with your child's name and ideally separated into lunch and tea. You are welcome to provide food in a thermos if you would like your child to have a hot meal. Please support us by labelling the boxes and bags. Fruit will be freely available during the day.

Remember that Fielding is a 'nut free' school, and you should check ingredients in snack bars, breads, snack packs etc.as these can contain 'nut traces' or may have been prepared in an environment where other products containing nuts have been prepared. Please note that any food containing traces of nuts will be sent home. Also, any chocolate or sweets will also be sent home.

Important

Do be very careful when selecting and clicking your chosen sessions, as once these are confirmed and appear in your nursery cashbook, they are non-refundable. Please don’t be disappointed if you receive a refusal for mistakes, swaps or a change of mind.

Late bookings and late collection for holiday club sessions 

Bookings made after 5pm on Wednesdays for the following week’s Holiday Club will be subject to an increased fees to cover the administration required to put in place adequate extra staffing at short notice. Late collection of children will be subject to a late fee as per term-time. Please see the Nursery holiday club page for full details.

Thank you for your wonderful support throughout Book Week. Whether you purchased books, joined us to read with the children in KS1 or helped your child create a ‘Story in a Box’, your involvement helped make the week truly special.

We are pleased to share that a refreshed and more organised Lost Property system is coming soon to Fielding. This improvement was sparked by a thoughtful proposal written by Alexa in 6F as part of her Platinum Values Baccalaureate. Her ideas prompted a wider discussion about how we can make lost items easier to find and ensure named belongings are returned more quickly.

Each year, British Science Week invites young people across the UK to design a poster linked to a special theme. For 2026, the theme is “Curiosity: what’s your question?”, encouraging children to explore ideas about what makes a good or positive childhood in the future.

Pupils are encouraged to:

• Explore the theme “Curiosity: what’s your question?”
• Share ideas about what a positive childhood might look like in the future.
• Be creative - using drawings, diagrams, mixed media, or written ideas.

The competition is open to all pupils. All entries must be submitted to school before the deadline of 6pm on Friday 20 March 2026.

Every day in Reception grows your child’s early skills in phonics, writing, and number—the foundations for everything that follows.

We are excited to celebrate Book Week 2026 from 2nd–6th March. Throughout the week, the children will take part in a range of activities designed to inspire a love of reading and celebrate the joy of books. Below is a brief outline of the key events that parents and carers can be involved in during this special week.

Events like these not only make a meaningful difference to important causes, but also give our pupils valuable opportunities to learn about charitable giving and how it reflects our school value of empathy.

Looking ahead, we have one more charity event planned for this academic year. On 29th April, we will be raising money for our chosen global charity, The British Red Cross. As part of their RSHE curriculum, Year 4 pupils will be leading the planning and organisation of this event. The Year 4 team will share further details as the date approaches.

At Fielding, pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 have spent time  exploring what AI is, how it works, and how they can make good choices when using it both at school and at home.
