On Monday, our Year 6 pupils will embark on one of the most exciting and memorable experiences of their time at Fielding Primary School – a five-night residential visit to Burgundy, France.

This annual trip is the culmination of our carefully planned residential programme, which begins with the Year 3 Camp Out, continues through Hooke Court in Year 4 and the Isle of Wight in Year 5, and concludes with this incredible opportunity to travel abroad. Along the way, children develop the confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork skills needed to make the most of such a significant experience.

The visit is also an important part of our curriculum. During their time in France, pupils will have opportunities to apply the French they have been learning since Reception, experience French culture first-hand and develop their geographical fieldwork skills beyond the classroom. For many children, it will be their first experience of travelling abroad without their family and is often remembered as a highlight of their primary school years.

Thank You to Our Staff

Trips of this scale are only possible because of the commitment and generosity of our staff team. A number of teachers and support staff will be accompanying the children and will be giving up their own time to ensure that pupils can enjoy this valuable experience safely.

Residential visits involve long days, overnight supervision and time away from their own families. We are incredibly grateful to the staff who volunteer to support these opportunities year after year. Their dedication allows us to offer experiences that have such a lasting impact on children's confidence, independence and personal development.

Arrangements in School

As several members of staff will be in France next week, some classes will be taught by different adults than usual. Teaching and learning will continue as normal, and pupils will be supported by experienced members of our staff team.

The staffing arrangements for next week are as follows:

• French lessons, will be taught by agency teacher, Ms Riar
• PE lessons, will be taught by Ms Meray (our new PE teacher for September)
• Mr Lewis's class 4F, will be taught by Ms Govender
• Miss Abed's class 5P, will be taught by  Mr McConnachie
• Miss Odogwu's class 5F, will be taught by an agency teacher, Ms Joseph
• Mrs O'Neill's class, Dragonflies  will be taught by agency teacher Ms Rizzo
• Mrs Trott's class, Oak class will be taught by Mrs Bhatti
• Mr Ahmed's class 3S, will be taught by Mr Edwards.

We know the children remaining in school will have a productive and enjoyable week, while we look forward to hearing about the adventures and achievements of our Year 6 pupils as they represent Fielding abroad.

We wish all of our Year 6 children and accompanying staff a safe journey and a fantastic week in France. We can't wait to share their experiences with you when they return.
