Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
This week in Reception we have been designing and making boats for our new topic 'Who will you find in the deep, blue sea?' The children have been enthusiast in learning about sea life. They have been reading facts; writing fact files about sea animals and reading books related to our new topic such as Billy’s Bucket, Commotion in the ocean. In maths Reception has been looking at doubling and halving pirates treasure and sea animals. All classes have had a whale of a time!
Twelve very lucky Fielding children were this week chosen to take part in a special training session at Fielding with 2 QPR first team players. Tjaronn Chery and Nasser El Khayati visited fielding on Tuesday afternoon and put some of our brightest future footballers through their paces. It was a fantastic experience for our pupils and we are very grateful to QPR for providing us with the opportunity. Both of the players were very impressed with all of our boys but gave special recognition to Joe from Year 5 and Matteo from Year 3. Maybe we will see them in QPR shirts too very soon!!
The winners of the Photography Competition had an enjoyable morning on the mini photography course provided by Martin Stewart of Martin Stewart Photography.
Jackson stated “I didn’t like it – I loved it!”
Outstanding achievements from both Mr Dunmall and Mr Winn in the world of marathons! Mr Dunmall ran the London Marathon with a personal best time of 3h40. Mr Winn ran the Paris Marathon with a very respectable time of 3h56. We are sure a few of our school values came into play namely PATIENCE (at the start!) RESILIENCE, POSITIVITY, DETERMINATION and HAPPINESS (at the end!).
The hours of training, hard work and dedication certainly paid off. Congratulations we are very proud of you both!
Fielding’s value of the month for May is Resilience. This value illustrates the importance of supporting children’s emotional health and well-being, as well as their learning, equipping them with skills to prepare for adulthood.
We welcome Ann Owen as our guest speaker for the next Inclusion Drop-In on Thursday 5th May. Ann works for MIND, the mental health charity. She will be joining us to discuss how to support the emotional well-being of both children and parents. Ann will also be discussing support available and how to navigate health services. She will be happy to answer questions. The Drop In will be held in the school house from 2-pm, in an informal and confidential setting. Please join us if you have a specific question or concern or would simply like more information.

What a great first two weeks back we have had after our Easter break! We have learnt about Dinosaurs and even managed to squeeze in a trip to the Natural History Museum. The pupils loved their visit and I’m sure there have been many children asking their parents when they can go back. The pupils are now able to talk about fossils and skeletons of dinosaurs. William, 2H, explained “It was such an amazing trip, I had no idea about the different sizes of dinosaurs and how sharp some of their teeth were.” When the children got back to school, all they could talk about was the trip. The teachers in Year 2 thought this would be a perfect time to write a recount about the visit as all children were so engaged. The pupils enjoyed this from the moment they started writing and were eager to learn how to make their recount as detailed as possible. We focused on suffixes, statements, exclamations and questions. At first the children found this challenging as they had to include all four writing features in one piece of work. After explicit grammar teaching, drafting and editing, their final recounts were incredible!
Whilst trying to understand why so many people live in London, Year 4 have had figure out where in the world are we? Geographical position, physical features and climate conditions have all been explored through the ‘Great British Atlas Quiz’ this week. To their disbelief, people did exist before Sat Navs and Tom Toms, and just to prove it we busted out our brand new atlases and explored the world. Starting with the Greenwich Mean Time we’ve explored meridians, latitudes, tropics, circles and why days are longer in the summer, which we are all looking forward to! As Zak in year 4H said, ‘Even the Romans must have realised the strategic advantages of London’s location.’
Our big night at the museum looms and be sure to fill in and submit the Health Information form which can also be found at the office if necessary. All other information can be found in the ‘Year Group Notice board’ section of the website.
Finally, the first two Baccalaureate badges of the year have been awarded to Sofia and Kinda, who have successfully managed to achieve all the tasks and shown their commitment and values to the wider community.
You'll be amazed at the benefits of learning to play a musical instrument. I hope you'll also be impressed by the range of instrument Fielding offers your child from Y3 upwards. Come along to the Sports Hall at 3:30 on Monday 23rd May and discover more. CLICK HERE to visit the music page for full details.
