Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
With only a few weeks remaining this Summer term, we are thinking ahead to the changes children will experience in September. Children will be meeting their new teacher on moving up morning, and will be involved in a variety of transition activities to support their move to a new year group, phase or high school.
If you have any concerns or questions relating to transition please join us on Thursday 6th July, between 2:30 and 3:30pm, in the school house. We will be joined by Hannah Howell-Day who works alongside us to support transition.
If your child is leaving at the end of this term (all pupils except Year 6) please ensure that you have notified the school office and submitted a Leavers’ Form. This is essential as the school has to inform Ealing borough of all joiners and leavers throughout the academic year and we must be able to forward pupils’ files on to their destination schools.
From the afternoon of Wednesday 5th July your child’s end of term assessments and Annual Report will be available to view on School Pupil Tracker Online (SPTO) www.mychildsreport.co.uk.
Once you have logged on you will be able to access your child’s Annual Report, as well as their most recent assessments and any previous reports and assessments.
For further information about assessment this term, what information to expect and how to access the reports please read our Summer Term update.
In addition to this pupils in Years 1, 2 and 6, will receive a paper copy of their end of key-stage assessment outcomes/phonics check results on the 5th July.
On the 6th July between 3.30pm and 6pm there will be an 'open house' session for you to informally look at your child's books and speak to the class teacher.
Virtually every Year 1 pupil has met the government's required standard, reflecting the school's excellent teaching of phonics (letters and sounds) .
97% of Year 1 pupils have achieved the pass mark in this year's phonics screening check. The vast majority of pupils scored very highly with 38 or more points out of a maximum mark of 40. Overall, boys achieved as well as girls, bucking national trends. All but one of our 10 disadvantaged pupils in the age group, who receive additional government funding through the Pupil Premium grant, also achieved the pass mark.
At Fielding, pupils are consistently taught phonics from Nursery through Reception and into Year 1. Teachers have relentlessly focused on teaching pupils to successfully match letters to sounds. Focused extra lessons, when needed for some pupils, has enabled them to also catch-up, achieve and thrive.
Extra help is offered to those pupils who start Year 2 below the standard. This year, 6 children who took the screening check at the end of Year 2 also all successfully passed.
Last year, 98% of pupils at Fielding achieved the pass mark compared to 81% of pupils nationally.
On Monday the Fielding athletics squad travelled to Perivale for this years competition. Luckily it was the only sunny day we have had this week so perfect for athletics. We won medals in the shot put, javelin, long jump, triple jump and 600m so enjoyed a fairly successful day.
Check out the PE page for the full report and some more photos.

We are extremely excited to announce that this term’s winning constellation team was Cygnus for the first time this year, with a score of 609 star points - beating Pegasus by just 2 points! See the full table of results here.
What is the reward?
Cygnus Star Leaders have decided that they would like their reward to be an afternoon of playing sports on the field, exploring Fielding Forest, playing on the climbing frames and in the Gaga pit with refreshing drinks and pizza. The constellation treat is open to all pupils in Cygnus constellation from Years 1 – 6 and will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday 4th July – 1.40pm-3pm
What next?
We will provide the sports equipment, games, pizza and refreshments. Let your child’s class teacher know if your child has any specific dietary requirements. Finally, If your child is in Cygnus constellation team, they can come to school dressed in non-school uniform suitable for sports based activities.
Our week of sports days start next and we have cemented the timings of the days. Please have a look at the page and download the necessary documents. Timings should be accurate on the day but please be aware they may change slightly so give yourself plenty of time if you are planning to come down for individual events.
