  • CHOIR REHEARSAL CANCELLED

Wed 28 Feb 2018 Michael Mappin

Tomorrow’s Choir rehearsal is cancelled.  North Ealing School, who were to have been our hosts, is closed today (Wednesday), so there might be a problem tomorrow too.  With more snow forecast for tomorrow, especially in the afternoon, I feel the risk of travel is too great.

EMS concerts will take place as normal on Thursday, as long as Fielding Primary School is open.  Check Twitter, Facebook or the school website tomorrow morning.

  • Reviewed Childcare Terms and Conditions

    Tue 27 Feb 2018

We have listened to the views of parents and agree if a child already has an hour of childcare or specialist club booked then the cost of ad hoc childcare can become expensive. With this in mind the childcare terms and conditions have been reviewed and updated.

If your child attends one hour of pre-booked specialist club or childcare you may now top up with a reduced ad-hoc session costing £7.75.  However if this booking occurs more than twice in a term a regular booking must be made.

Contact childcare@fielding.ealing.sch.uk to make this booking.

Please be reminded the remaining 50% of Spring Term childcare and specialist club fees are now due. All cashbooks should now be clear or a payment plan in place. If you are experiencing difficulties paying, contact the Childcare Manager as soon as possible to discuss options. childcare@fielding.ealing.sch.uk

  • PTFA Meeting - Mon 5 March 2018 (9am & 8.30pm)

    Tue 27 Feb 2018

The PTFA will be hosting its regular parents meeting to discuss upcoming events planned in the next few months. This is also a chance to provide feedback on where our fundraising money should be spent.

The meeting, being held on Monday 5 March, will be repeated twice during the day (once in the morning with Mr Dumnall, and again in the evening) to allow as many parents/carers to participate.

We will be reviewing activity from the last few events, including the Ice Skating and Quiz Night, alongside some new events planned such as the Mother's Day Gift Shop and Scarecrow Competition & Parade.

The morning meeting is in the school house after morning drop off (9.00am) and the evening meeting on the same day, also in the school house at 8.30pm. All parents are welcome to join us at one of these meetings and it would be great to see as many of you as possible.

The morning meeting is accompanied by tea and coffee. The evening meeting is accompanied by a glass of wine and it would be great for parents to stay for a drink or two after the meeting. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents especially if you are new to the school. We look forward to seeing you there!

Minutes for the last meeting can be found at: http://www.fieldingprimary.com/ptfa/

  • COME AND TRY - drums. marimbas, oboes...

Mon 26 Feb 2018 Michael Mappin

I am very proud of the range of instruments we offer here at Fielding (and keep your eyes peeled for information about French horn), but even I have to admit that we can't do everything (not that we don't give it a good go).

Ealing Junior Music School holds a huge range of different instruments, and they're having an Open Day this coming Saturday (3rd March).  It's an opportunity for budding musicians aged 5-18 to go along and try out some stuff.

It's at the cafe at Twyford High School from 2:30-4:30, and there will be Ealing Junior Music School teachers there to show the youngsters how to play the instruments.  You'll be able to find out more about EJMS, and of course, if enough Fielding children decide they really really want to learn a particular instrument, we might even be persuaded to start teaching it here!

On Thursday Reception will have their PE session in the afternoon as normal but they will not be required to change into their PE kits. The children can stay in their World Book Day costumes all day. The PE session will be low impact this week.
  • Scarlet Fever

    Mon 26 Feb 2018

There have been 4 reported cases of Scarlet Fever both in Nursery and Reception. Scarlet fever, also called scarlatina, is an infection that causes a blotchy, pink-red rash. It's most common in young children, but can affect people of any age. Symptoms of scarlet fever develop within a week of being infected. Early signs include a sore throat, a headache, a high temperature (38.3C/101F or above), swollen glands in the neck and being sick. This may be followed by a rash on the body, a red face and a white or red tongue.
