Fielding
Primary School and Nursery
Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
As many of you will have noticed, Happy's Circus came to Fielding Primary School this week with three performances across three days. Over 1000 children, parents and staff attended from Fielding and we really hope everyone enjoyed themselves. If you did attend and would like to provide feedback, then please complete the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FieldingCircusFeedback
We also welcomed families from other schools in the local area with Little Ealing Primary School, Mount Carmel Catholic School, Oaklands Primary School and Lionel Primary School all in attendance. Feedback from these schools have been overwhelming positive and all have said they felt welcomed by the Fielding parents. A great result for the community!
Thank you to More Space who sponsored the Circus and and for the food retailers who also contributed in various ways. This has allowed us to raise a wonderful amount of money for the PTFA. Expenses are still coming in and results will be announced in September.
Last week, the PTFA launched a funding pool to raise £5,000 to purchase books on the new 'Recommended Reading List'. This fund, which is already at £2,300, will allow the PTFA to purchase new books in the library for the enjoyment of children across the school and create a lasting legacy even when your child(ren) have left the school.
We have had some very generous donations, so if you feel you can contribute to the fund - big or small then there are a couple of ways you can help:
1. Donate money using the online link: http://bit.ly/FieldingRecommendedReading. Please add you name and the book you want to donate. We are asking for a minimum donation of £6.
2. You can purchase a book from any good book retailer and drop it into the school reception
3. If you have any books at home from the reading list that you wish to donate, then these can also be dropped off at the school reception
The Recommended Reading List by year group is available at http://www.fieldingprimary.com/library-books-wish-list/
First of all, the PTFA would like to thank everyone who has donated and/or volunteered their time over the last academic year. We realise that it has been a long slog, especially with two very big events (Summer Fair and Circus) in the last few weeks, but volunteering is a really important part of the PTFA. Whilst the core team have pulled all the stops out to deliver a wide range of events, we'd love other parents to come forward to help share the rewarding work that we do - Feel free to contact the PTFA on fieldingPTFA@gmail.com
The fundraising efforts of this years PTFA has delivered an incredible amount of money which is going towards enriching our children's education. With the Circus having only just finished we still have expenses to come in, but it looks like we could have raised around £48,000 over the last 11 months. This money has been spent on a wide variety of projects this year including:
- £12,500 on the extension to the Kitchen Garden
- £7,000 on the Curriculum / Artifact boxes. Resources including books, costumes and other resources to support children's learning on various topics.
- £3,000 on School Trips
- £2,000 on Year 6 Leavers Production
- £15,000 on bulk funding (which has includes cost for materials used in the classroom)
- £500 on Tea/Coffee for Staff Room
- £1,000 PTFA investments (including Candy Floss Machine, Pancake Maker, BBQ Utensils, Coconut Shy, Microphone stands, Cabling and curtain materials
We also have a fund going to the new Recommended Reading List - which is currently on £2,300. If you would like to donate http://bit.ly/FieldingRecommendedReading
Thank you all once again and enjoy the summer holidays.
Come in and find out! Thanks to the vision and generosity of the PTFA, we're extending the Kitchen Garden this summer. We'll have more raised beds, a much bigger pond, and a wildlife garden. This means the children will be able to learn about pond-dipping, ecosystems and sustainability, as well as having their very own raised bed to work on each lesson. YOU helped raise the money for this - so come and celebrate!
The garden is open every morning from 8.30am this week, so you can find out about our plans, see what your children have been growing this year, take a peek at the new chicks and discover who's been eating our sunflowers.
We're also selling plants, produce and cakes so we can buy seeds for the new garden. Look out for our special garden-themed cupcakes - box moth caterpillar, anyone?
On behalf of the governors, I would like to say thank you to Peter Dunmall, Clare Haines and all the school staff at Fielding for their tremendous hard work this year which has led to pupils achieving fantastic results.
I would also like to thank parents, carers and the PTFA for their incredible support this year.
Have a great summer holiday,
See you next year,
Rebecca Preston

At Fielding, the children take the lead in choosing three charities to support throughout the year. The final charity event of this year supports the work of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) on Tuesday 16th July. To mark the occasion, children are asked to wear a purple item with their school uniform, which is the charity’s recognisable colour and make a monetary donation. Throughout the day children will also be taking part in ‘buddy reading’ in which older children will read excerpts of Peter Pan to younger children.
J M Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, gifted the rights of the story to GOSH in 1929 and since then, the childhood favourite has become synonymous with the wonderful work that takes place at the hospital. Barrie moved from Scotland and lived close to the hospital, which provided the inspiration for the Darlings’ family home.
We are looking forward to children sharing parts of this wonderful story and seeing a ‘sea of purple’ in support for this wonderful charity on Tuesday 16th July.
