  • Sport this week

Fri 27 Sep 2019 Dan Thomas

This week, Fielding have entered teams into the Brownlee Brothers Mini Triathlon at Willesden Sport Centre and the Featherstone Boys Football Competition at Spikes Bridge. Our children were excellent at both events with our triathletes showing great flexibility to take part in a converted indoor triathlon due to some terrible weather and our footballers showing great resilience to come back from an opening game loss to reach the quarter finals.

Big well done to both teams. Check out the PE page for full reports.

  • New Committee members needed at PTFA AGM - Monday 7 October

    Thu 26 Sep 2019

First of all, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you for all your hard work and support. This year was another record breaking fundraising year. The PTFA raised an incredible £52,000, which is the highest amount raised in 25 years, beating the previous year of £44,000.

That money has paid for the outstanding facilities, trips and opportunities that our children all enjoy including £12,500 for the kitchen garden extension, £7,000 for a new Library Resource Service for every teacher as well as schools trips, new library books and even teas & coffees for the staff room.
Thanks to your constant support, Fielding’s facilities are the envy of other schools and we should be incredibly proud of the tireless efforts by our hardworking group of parents.

Unfortunately a number of dedicated PTFA committee members are now stepping aside.  We reply on volunteers to run the PTFA and the majority have full time jobs.  If you believe in helping enrich the education of our children and have even a small amount of time, we are on the look out for a new secretary, a new co-events coordinator and some parents to help support specific events like the Christmas or Summer Fair amongst others.

Even if you are unable to volunteer, please come along to show your support at our AGM on Monday 7 October at 8pm.  We'll be setting out our agenda for the next 12 months. We would love to hear your ideas, feedback and suggestions on fundraising and how future revenue should be spent. It is also an opportunity to hear about some of the exciting new events we have planned.  Any questions, please contact Nolan, PTFA Chair on fieldingPTFA@gmail.com
  • Fielding Comedy Night tickets on sale now

    Thu 26 Sep 2019

Fielding PTFA is excited to announce its continued partnership with Headliners Comedy Club with an exclusive Comedy Night held at Fielding Primary School. On Friday 11 October the school hall will be transformed into a pop up comedy club and the last two outings have achieved the highest satisfaction scores of any event the PTFA has run in the last two years!

We are delighted to confirm we will have the following comedians joining us - Carey Marx, Omid Singh and Steve Gribbin with Sam Hurst to compere the evening.

Carey Marx was the winner of best international comedy show in New Zealand in 2009 & 2011 and comes fresh off his stint at the Edinburgh Festival.  Omid Singh meanwhile is an America, born to an Iranian mother and Indian father, and is one of the top multicultural comics working today.

Steve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit.

Doors will open at 7.30pm with the first act on stage at 8.15pm. There will be a licensed bar serving drinks until 10.30pm. This is an Adult event and there is a limited number of tickets. • Reminder - Get Ready for Outdoor Play When Wet

    Sun 22 Sep 2019

We have started the school year with some fantastic weather, and the children have been enjoying morning break and lunchtime play in the sun. As we move into autumn and winter it is likely that we will have more wet and unsettled weather. As far as possible we do not want this to interrupt playing outside.

Previously there would be indoor play in any wet weather, but as publicised earlier in 2019, from this term we will remain outdoors where possible. However, during heavy rain or extreme weather children will remain indoors during play.

There are several benefits to this change of approach

    • To maximise the use of our outdoor space
    • Following NHS guidelines by providing pupils the opportunity to engage in moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity for at least 60 minutes and up to several hours every day
    • Movement breaks help to decrease stress, increases productivity, boosts brain function, and provides opportunities for children to learn social skills. It is more difficult to provide this opportunity during indoor play
    • The indoor circulation of germs and bacteria is much more harmful to children than by playing outside.
    • Children gain the sensory experience of listening to and feeling different weather conditions.
    •  A significant number of pupils have expressed a desire to play outside during unsettled weather
    • For some pupils due to the lack of physical play opportunities, this leads to poor behaviour choices and some pupils experiencing less productive lessons after wet play.

To allow outdoor play to take place both pupils and staff are expected to have suitable warm and waterproof clothing in school at all times. Please ensure they bring suitable clothing with them to school to accommodate for the unsettled English weather.

    Suitable clothing includes

    • Waterproofs – This may be a jacket, coat or suit
    • A warm fleece, jumper or cardigan
    • Winter hat and sun hat (optional)
    • Scarves and gloves (optional)
    • Wellie boots (optional)
