  • Supporting Ealing foodbank

    Collecting for Ealing Food Bank

    Each year, we ask our children to choose three charities they would like to support. We choose one local, one national and one global charity to support throughout the school year. This year’s local charity we are supporting is Ealing food bank. This charity supports people and families when they are in need. In order to support this worthwhile charity and in line with our school lessons on empathy, we will be having a collection day for Ealing food bank.

    On Thursday 14th November, we ask that children either bring an item off the shopping list below or small monetary contribution (we suggest £1). This will then be collected by the food bank and used to provide food to those who need it.

    Thank you

    Suggested shopping list from the foodbank:

    • Long Life Fruit Juice & Squash
    • Cook-in / Pasta Sauce - jars

  • Multi-sport playing surface planning application

    Thu 17 Oct 2019 Peter Dunmall

    Landscape architects have completed the design and applied for planning permission for our multi-sport playing surface this week.  Our plans can be seen:

    We thought about the school's needs and listened to the views of anyone interested, including neighbours, local residents and parents.  Our plans meet our needs and show how we have listened to different views:

    • an all-weather artificial sports pitch, 43m x35m marked for hockey and football, with a 4-lane 60m running track, taking less than one-third of the grass field and located furthest away from all surrounding residents;
    • 3m high, light gauge mesh fencing to keep balls inside;
    • low-spill lighting for all-year round use for after-school sports clubs with switched on/off time and day controls and 'app'-based switching from any mobile device;
    • new planting, including trees to provide natural shade during summer months and enhanced bio-diversity along the southern boundary giving net bio-diversity gain over the lost grass;
    • community use organised around partnerships with well-established local clubs to minimise anti-social behaviour risk;
    • community use restricted to 9pm weekdays and 6pm at weekends to meet the requirements of Sport England while respecting the wishes of neighbours;
    • a travel plan co-ordinator to ensure that community use is accessed using sustainable transport methods;
    • barrier planting to reduce noise and a professional noise study that has assessed likely noise impact as low.

    A decision is expected by 5th December.

  • Sport this week

    Fri 11 Oct 2019 Dan Thomas

    This week in the PE and Sport world at Fielding we have been to the Featherstone High 5 Netball competition and just found out cross country results.

    Two teams of Netball players went to Pitshanger Park yesterday for this years tournament and really demonstrated school values in the way they conducted themselves. It was a tough competition but everybody could leave with their heads held high for the effort they put in.

    We found out the results for last weeks cross country races today and found they made excellent reading. The girls squad finished in 2nd place in the girls competition which is fantastic. The boys squad amassed the most points in their races to regain the boys trophy that we also won last year. Finally, the icing on the cake was that we also finished in first place overall to be regain that shield as well! Great result and well deserved.

    To read the full report on the Netball and look at individual times and placings for cross country, get on to the PE page.
