We'd like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support we had for the Summer 2021 Raffle. It has certainly been a record-breaker and looks like it could have raised well over £5,000 for the raffle alone. Thank you to RSK for their continued sponsorship of this raffle, but also to the many local businesses that have donated prizes including Apple, Patri (Northfields Ave), Hen Corner (Brentford), Yoga Whites, JC Nails (Northfields Ave), Superkids Stories, Kumon (Northfields Ave), Ealing Riding Stables, London Footgolf Centre.
Parents are contacting me about two recurring niggles:
I need our community to unite around shared values of respect, tolerance and understanding.
LTN21, School Streets and privacy
The implementation and then removal of the Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN21) around the school remains contentious and divisive. There are many different views. The school remains neutral and passive about the control and management of streets around the school site. Our role is to educate pupils, helping them to learn to stay safe while using any road. The Council is best placed to decide and implement any measures, including a School Streets approach, to manage and control use of streets around the school site.
Campaigners for and against control measures have different views. Whatever views, all are asked to:
COVID symptoms and ethnic minorities
Some parents, especially those in ethnic minority groups, are telling us that they feel blamed by others for spreading coronavirus infection. Comments from one parent to another range from remarks about a child coughing, children having COVID symptoms and spreading infection to others by attending school.
Parents know their own child best. It is for parents to decide whether their own child has COVID symptoms. All of us must do the right thing, self-isolate and test as soon as their is any sign of symptoms.
There is no history of any cases in school where parents, including those in all ethnic minority groups, have knowingly sent children to school with coronavirus.
Please can everyone:
In the Autumn Term, the Governing Board will seek nominations from parents to fill two parent governor vacancies. Governors each focus on different areas of responsibility. An interest in, or experience of
However, these specific professional knowledge and skills should not stop any parent from applying if you have the wish and commitment to be a governor. Parent governors are appointed for a period of 4 years.
The Governing Board holds school leaders to account, provides support and challenge whilst setting the strategic direction of the school.
All governors, including parent governors:
Meetings may be held by video conference, using Microsoft Teams, or as restrictions relax, return to face-to-face at the school.
We know that there maybe uncertainty in life and own jobs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The Board works flexibly to match the commitment of its volunteer members.
Find out more about the role of school governors and the skills required:
Every governor is not required to have competence in every skill.
In the Autumn term, we will write to you again asking parents to nominate themselves or another parent (if they are willing to be named).
If more nominations are received than vacancies available, then a ballot will be organised to select the new governor. First and second place nominations will then become parent governors.
Once appointed, all governors are subject to an enhanced check by the Criminal Records Bureau and other suitability checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate.
We have been advised by parents and Public Health England of confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Reception, year 3 and year 6. Three pupils from one family have tested positive. Classes affected are:
Children in these classes need to stay at home and self-isolate. The last day of self-isolation is Friday 2nd July. Pupils may return to school on Monday 5 July. We will switch to remote learning by Microsoft Teams from Monday 28 June for these classes. This means these pupils should not leave the house for any reason, including walking to school with any other siblings.
Pupils in Class 6S will not be able to travel to the Isle of Wight on Friday for their residential trip. We are very disappointed that these pupils cannot travel. We will contact parents and talk to pupils separately.
Three class teachers and four other adults who work in these classes must also self-isolate at home. There are no other known close contacts of these pupils, including after-school clubs or play dates.
All other pupils in Reception, year 3 and year 6 are not affected because we have continued to operate our class containment bubbles. School remains open to these and all other pupils.
If your child has any symptoms, including mild ones please arrange a PCR test.
We know that you may find this worrying but we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are working with Public Health England, following their requirements for schools and have informed the local authority.

Fielding PTFA has been selected as a finalist for Best Fundraising Achievement Award in the Parentkind National PTA Awards which takes place on Friday 25 June 2021. The award entry focussed around the struggles of not being able to run traditional physical events for fundraising and how new ideas were created and delivered via online/streaming in times when parents and pupils were restricted to homeschooling and class bubbles. The example used in this entry was the Reindeer Poop Bingo - an idea concocted by Ciaran McGann, Facilities Manager at Fielding, but ultimately delivered by Nolan O'Connor whilst both Ciaran and Piotr were isolating from the school due to Covid.
