    Enjoy an extended Bank Holiday weekend. The school is closed on Tuesday 3 May for an Occasional Day. All pupils should return to school on Wednesday 4 May.

  • Volunteers Needed at Circus (30mins - 90mins slots)

    Wed 27 Apr 2022 PTFA

     Many families will already know that the Circus is coming to town (14/15 May), however the event will not run unless we have parent volunteers to help support activities on the day - which would be a shame as we have already sold out the 1,200 tickets!

    We have a variety of roles you can get involved in - whether you are attending the circus or not. They range from 30mins to 90mins of volunteering - surely a small price to pay as Fielding PTFA stands to make around £5,000 from this activity alone.

    We are looking for people to help scan tickets at entrances, shifts on the bar, erect gazebos, litter picking at the end of the day or a spot of face painting.  You'll be fully briefed and you might even get a free drink!  Just visit https://fieldingptfa.ivolunteer.com/happyscircusmay2022

  • Fielding Eggs Back on Sale for this half term

    Wed 27 Apr 2022 PTFA

    All of the chickens at Fielding are now laying eggs each day so we are excited to open up the next release of egg sales between now and the 27 May.

    Each week two families will be able to secure 50% of the eggs that are laid that week.  Normally this is between 12-14 eggs.

    If you would like to be one of those families, click on the link and select the week. https://buytickets.at/fieldingptfa/690941

  • Multi-sport playing surface coming for 2022/23

    Wed 27 Apr 2022 Peter Dunmall

    Our 1,500m2 multi-sport playing surface will be built over the summer holiday, ready for use during the Autumn term. This improvement project was postponed at the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The new playing surface, replacing part of the school field will give us:

    • an all-weather, artificial sports pitch, 43m x 35m marked for hockey and football, with a 4-lane 60m running track, taking around one-third of the grass field;
    • 3m high, light gauge mesh fencing to keep balls inside;
    • low-spill lighting for all-year round use for after-school sports clubs with switched on/off time and day controls and 'app'-based switching from any mobile device;
    • new planting, including trees to provide natural shade during summer months and enhanced bio-diversity along the southern boundary giving a net bio-diversity gain over the lost grass;
    • community use to 9pm weekdays and 6pm at weekends to meet the requirements of Sport England while respecting the wishes of neighbours. We are working on partnering with sports clubs for children up to 12 years old.

    Fielding's pupils will benefit from the new playing surface:

    • at specialist clubs, before and after school, with more clubs being able to take place during winter months as a result of new floodlighting;
    • at lunchtimes, including with of our community coaches, especially when the school field is too wet and muddy to use;
    • during PE lessons every week, especially during winter months when the field is not usable;
    • at break times, giving more space to play ball games, especially when the field cannot be used;
    • after-school and at weekends, if they join any of our partner clubs.
  • KS1 Panathlon team finish 4th at Featherstone

    Wed 27 Apr 2022 Dan Thomas

    On Tuesday, the KS1 Panathlon team travelled to Featherstone High School to take part in this years Featherstone competition. We competed against 7 other schools across 8 different Panathlon events, including boccia, kurling and parachute pop. Our team were excellent and demonstrated courage and resilience in the way they tackled some brand new activities. After a full morning of competition we sat down and together and awaited the results. When our name was finally read out we felt extremely proud to find out that we had finished in 4th place and won some very nice looking black medals! A huge well done to every member of our Panathlon team today for representing the school so well!

  • Smart school uniform

    Tue 26 Apr 2022 Clare Haines

    As we are moving into the warmer weather children can wear the optional summer school uniform. This includes shorts or blue & white gingham style summer dresses.

    Children should continue to wear plain, black school shoes. Trainers of any kind should only be worn on PE or gardening and cooking days. If your child is currently wearing trainers instead of school shoes, please make sure their next pair of shoes for school are plain, black school shoes.

    Children with long hair (below the shoulders) should wear it tied back. Hair accessories should be in line with school colours, blue, black or white and small in size.

  • Better facilities for our pupils

    Fri 22 Apr 2022 Peter Dunmall

    Pupils returned to school welcoming improvement works over the Easter holiday. Improvements include:

    • Technology. Complete replacement of 120 desktop PCs, including both ICT rooms for pupils and upgrade of teachers' Surface devices. The school now operates entirely from the cloud. This gives pupils and staff greater flexibility to work and better maintenance at lower cost to keep us up and running.
    • Year 4 toilets. Complete refurbishment, strip out of old and tired fixtures and fittings. Replacement with new toilets, sinks, cubicles and redecoration. Urinals removed and replaced with additional pan cubicles. Toilets remain gender specific for now but this gives us the option of shifting to gender neutral facilities at a later stage when other toilet areas are refurbished.
    • Playground. New pirate ship for play in the sandpit to replace rotten pirate ship. 4 sets of 4-square markings for small ball games. Uneven playground resurfaced.
    • Nursery. New door and wall to better separate Dragonfly and Grasshopper classrooms. Further improvement works to Nursery to take place during the summer holiday, including replacement floor and toilets.
    • Kitchen. Redecoration so that school meals are prepared and served from a clean and safe environment.
