It has been a pleasure to see even more pupils at Fielding being awarded Bronze, Silver, Gold and even Platinum Reading Awards this week. These are achieved for pupils having read  5, 10, 15 or 25 books from their year group recommended reading lists and completing response activities (from the options provided in their reading record). Response activities can be submitted to class teachers on Teams under their class notebook, in the recommended reading section or handed in to their class teachers in person. We look forward to celebrating more reading achievements next week!

You can view your child's current recommended reading list when you sign their reading record or click on this link and scroll to the bottom of the page. English | Fielding Primary School. £1500 has been spent on new book stock in the KS1 and KS2 libraries and the delivery has begun to arrive this week! Children will have an opportunity to look at the new books during their timetabled library sessions with our school librarian, Mrs Hodge, and will continue to be able to borrow books to bring home. Please do ensure that your child remembers to return the books once they have finished reading them so that others can enjoy them.

Please do continue to take the time to read daily with and/or listen to your child read for 20 minutes and sign their reading record. This is invaluable as it instils a love of reading amongst our pupils and essential to teachers as they continue to monitor the books that their pupils are reading at home and recommend new books based on their interests.

  • Circus Success & School’s Out Picnic (16 July)

    Thu 19 May 2022 PTFA

The PTFA hosted Happy Circus together with St Marks School in Hanwell last weekend (14-15 May). Informal feedback from parents and children alike has been overwhelmingly positive, including the more obvious squeals of delight on the day. We’d like to say a huge thank you to the parent volunteers who helped in the run up to the event and over the weekend. For most, it was just an hour here and there, but it all mattered and made sure we could run the event safely and smoothly. We’re still totalling our takings for the PTFA over the two days and will share more information when we have it. And, if you’re up for more fun and socialising, make sure you set the date to attend the Fielding School’s Out Picnic on 16 July. This has been an extremely successful event in past years where families can meet and picnic on the Fielding field while the children run around and play safely in the locked and secure grounds. Look out ticket sales sometime in June.

  • Children in Years 1 -6 take a democratic vote on which charities to support in 2022-23

Tue 17 May 2022 Clare Haines

Our termly parliament assembly took place on Monday this week. The children voted on which charities they would like to support in the next school year.

Star Leaders and Deputy Star Leaders researched a wide range of charities and came up with a short list for children to vote on.
Each year children select 3 charities:

    • Local
    • National
    • Global

Find out more about parliament assemblies here

In the academic year 2022-23 the children have chosen to support:

    • Ealing hospital as our local charity
    • Cancer research as our national charity
    • Ukrainian Red Cross as our global charity

We will support one of these charities each term with the whole school learning about what that charity does and supporting them with a fundraising event.

In the meantime will continue to support the charities chosen for this school year. Information coming soon about an event for the WWF and RSPCA

    • Ealing Food bank as our local charity
    • RSPCA as our national charity
    • World Wildlife Fund (WFF)as our global charity

  • Keeping safe survey for children, deadline 3rd June 11am

Sun 15 May 2022 Clare Haines

Click here to start Keeping safe survey for children

In your child's  RSHE lessons they learn about how to keep safe in and out of school. We want to find out how much they have remembered and how this makes a difference to how children treat each other at school. This will also help us plan what we teach next.

We would like all children from Reception to Year 6 to complete a short survey. They may need your help.

To log on, they will need their school Microsoft username and password, this is the one they use to log on to the computers in school or on to Teams. It looks something like this ahain56.307@fieldingprimary.com.

If your child has forgotten or don't know their username or password, they can ask their teacher or you can email the admin team. Teams logins changed in April for all children, read this news article.

The form  will take around 15 minutes to complete. Click here to start Keeping safe survey for children.

  • Help with Summer Fair (25 June)

    Fri 13 May 2022 PTFA

If the Summer Fair is to run on 25 June, then the PTFA need a team of parents who can volunteer to be on the organising team.  The role generally involves two or three online meetings,  making decisions on which stalls should be run, assigning stalls and sourcing some items (like inflatables).  If you are interested in contacting local businesses for sponsorship then that is also something that would be useful.

If you are interesting to join the team, please email fieldingPTFA@gmail.com
