Fielding took both our boys and girls' performance teams to the annual APNA competition. This event saw a total of 30 schools competing from across the London borough – with a high standard throughout the day.

 

Unfortunately, neither of our boys or girls' teams were able to win the trophy on the day, but each team was able to celebrate a successful day for their own reasons, with standout performances from both teams, which were highlighted at the end of the day.

 

Our girls team was the only team to field a squad of only girls, with other teams fielding either a mixed team or a team represented just by boys. Despite being the only girls' team, they did not let that affect them and this proved to be the case, winning two of their group games, with a draw and loss in their final two matches. These performances highlighted what a talented and resilient group of players they are. 

 

Our boys performed superbly throughout the day, with 4 wins out of 4 in the group stages. Moving into the knockout stages, they did not let the occasion get the better of them and progressed through the Round of 16, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals, winning 1-0, 7-1 and 3-2 respectively. In the final, we faced Holy Family and knew that one more win would secure the trophy. Despite their best efforts and controlling the majority of the game, we lost the game 1-0. 

 

Despite not winning, it was a great experience for them all, and they should be extremely proud of their achievements.  There were also some children who were highlighted by event organisers for their performances on the day.
