  • Ealing Park Ride event, Saturday 24 May, 11am

Tue 29 Apr 2025 Peter Dunmall

All adult and child cyclists are invited to join the Ealing Park Ride on Saturday 24th May 2025 at 11am. There are 2 rides:

    • Churchfields Recreation Ground to Pitshanger Park and back
    • Pitshanger Park to Churchfields Recreation Ground and back
    • There’s also a meeting point in Perivale Park between 11.30 at 11.45am. Riders can also join at Perivale Park by the Cowgate Road entrance as the rides pass by between 11.30am and 11.45am. They can choose which ride to follow, whether to Churchfields or Pitshanger.

The Ealing Park Ride follows a 7-mile route in total, and including the hour’s rest should return to each start point by about 3pm. It is mostly through parks and on cycle lanes, with some short sections on the road. It will be escorted by qualified cycling instructors plus volunteers.

Most of the route is flat, but there is one short, steepish hill in the Brent Valley section. Riders are welcome to walk up or down it.

Why do the Ealing Park Ride?

It will be great exercise, a chance to enjoy riding with others and a great way to explore Ealing’s fantastic green spaces. There’s also a cycling goodie bag for the school with the most participants.

    How do you sign up?

To book a free space go to https://bit.ly/ealingparkride. Choose a starting point. Participation is recommended for children aged 6 and over, and they must be with an adult.

  • Embracing Values-Based Living: A Partnership Between Home and School

    Mon 28 Apr 2025

At Fielding, we are committed to nurturing the holistic development of our pupils through our values-based approach to education. Our core values—respect, resilience, empathy, and reflection—are the foundation of our school community. This year, we are excited to introduce our Values-Based Living initiative, which includes our Inner Curriculum designed to help children develop a strong sense of self and learn how to navigate their emotions and interactions.

    What is Values-Based Living?

Values-Based Living emphasises the importance of instilling core values in children, both at school and at home. Our Inner Curriculum helps children understand and manage their feelings, build positive relationships, and develop a sense of purpose and self-worth.

How Can You Support Values-Based Living at Home?

    • Model the Values: Show respect, resilience, empathy, and reflection in your interactions.
    • Use Values Language: Praise your child for showing one of the core values.
    • Create Opportunities for Reflection: Ask questions like, "How did you show respect today?" or "What did you learn from that experience?"
    • Celebrate Values-Based Actions: Recognise and celebrate behaviours aligned with our core values.

    Focus for This Half Term

During this half term, we aim to provide parents and carers with a bank of statements that contain our values-based language. Each week, we will focus on a different core value and provide examples of how to talk about the values and use the vocabulary at home. Click here to see our first bank of statements/questions that encourage the understanding of the value respect.

  • Fielding Battle of the Bands: We Have a Winner! 🎉

Wed 23 Apr 2025 Reena Patel

We are thrilled to announce the results of our exciting Fielding Battle of the Bands that took place over the Easter break! The competition was fierce, and the enthusiasm from all classes was truly inspiring.

Congratulations to Class 4H for emerging as the champions of this Battle of the Bands! Your dedication and hard work have paid off, and you have earned the coveted TTRS Wrangle Trophy and a TTRS Certificate for your class.

A special shoutout to our top scorer, Ben Ruesink Brown (Rock Name: Jerry Rodriguez) from Class 3P, who scored an impressive 7,677 points! Your exceptional commitment and skill in mastering your times tables have truly shone through. Our top scorer will receive:

    • A TTRS Pin
    • A TTRS Pencil
    • A TTRS Certificate

    Why Times Tables Matter?

Fluency and instant recall of times tables are essential for many future maths topics. Quick mental maths operations free up working memory for more challenging tasks, laying a strong foundation for pupils' success in mathematics. This practice is not just about winning a competition; it's about building skills that will benefit our pupils throughout their academic journey and beyond.

    Progress and Achievements
We are incredibly proud of the progress our pupils have made. The engagement and improvement in times tables fluency have been remarkable. This competition has shown that with consistent practice, our pupils can achieve great things.

    Keep the Momentum Going!
Even though this Battle of the Bands has come to an end, we encourage all pupils to continue practising their times tables regularly. The "little and often" technique promoted by TTRS is key to maintaining and improving fluency. Just 3-10 minutes of practice, three times a week, can make a significant difference.

Thank you to all pupils, parents, and teachers for your support and participation. Let's keep rocking those times tables and building a strong foundation for future success!

    Rock on, Fielding pupils! 🎸

  • School lunches, ISS update

Tue 22 Apr 2025 Clare Haines

I'd like to extend my thanks to the PTFA reps who attended our ISS 'tasting session' just before the Easter break. It was really useful to hear questions and get feedback about school lunches in general.

One of the suggestions made was reducing the size of the cake-based deserts so that children could opt for fruit as well as the cake (which is often seen as a 'treat' based desert - more on this to come soon),  I'm happy to let you know that ISS will be starting this on Monday, to coincide with the launch of family-style service for pupils in key stage 2.

Thank you to those of you who have signed up to attend one of the ISS coffee mornings next week. These will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9.15am in the main school hall. The hall will be set up as it is at lunchtime, so you can see what it looks like for the children.

Please see an updated version of the menu linked below that starts tomorrow. You'll notice that ISS have added icons next to each dish, so that you can see which ones have been 'supercharged' and which ones contain 1 or 2 of your 'five-a-day.'
