Allergy Safety Policy and Individual Healthcare Plans

We are pleased to share our new Allergy Safety Policy, which reflects current best practice and emerging national guidance on supporting pupils with allergies and asthma in schools.

The policy strengthens our approach to ensuring that emergency medication is always accessible throughout the school day, whether children are in lessons, at playtime, attending clubs, or taking part in educational visits. It also places a strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing, inclusion, and ensuring that children with medical conditions can participate fully in school life.

As part of this work, we are also updating our Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs). Parents of pupils with allergies, asthma, or other significant medical needs will be asked to review and complete a new IHP so that we can ensure all information, medication, consent arrangements and emergency procedures remain accurate and up to date.

We would like to thank parents for the thoughtful feedback we have received during the implementation period. This has helped us refine our procedures and ensure that they are both safe and practical for pupils of different ages and needs.
