Following last year's parent consultation, Fielding has simplified its uniform expectations. The sweatshirt or cardigan remains the core school uniform, as it always has been. The fleece has been retained as an optional outerwear item following parent feedback. Most pupils are already wearing the published uniform. A few parents have told us they did not know about the changes.
Thank you to all parents who contributed to last year's uniform consultation.
During the consultation, we proposed removing the fleece because there were too many uniform variations. Many parents told us that they valued the fleece because it is warm, practical and durable. We listened to that feedback and adjusted our plans. Instead of removing the fleece, we retained it as an optional outerwear item.
The Fielding blue sweatshirt or cardigan with our logo remains, and has always been, the core school uniform item.
We want our uniform to be:
Our expectation is that children wear:
The Fielding fleece may still be worn, but as optional outerwear only. When inside, the fleece is kept in lockers or on pegs.
Our first preference is that families purchase a sweatshirt or cardigan as soon as practical and begin using this as their child's main uniform item. Any fleece can then continue to be used as intended, as optional outerwear.
However, we recognise that some families may not have seen or understood the updated guidance when purchasing uniform. If this applies to you, we ask that you make the change as soon as possible, by the end of first Spring half-term (Friday 12th February 2027) Teachers may contact the small number of affected families directly to support this transition.
Thank you for your support. As with all aspects of school life, our aim is to balance consistency, affordability and practicality while ensuring every child feels that they belong at Fielding.
