1st Place for Years 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football team

Today the Years 5 & 6 girls' performance football team showed resilience and skill to win the Featherstone Football Tournament, finishing the day undefeated and bringing home the trophy.

 

Group Stage Highlights:

Fielding kicked off the tournament with a confident 2-0 win against Allenby A, thanks to goals from Coco and Daisy. This was followed by a dominant 4-0 victory over St Marks B, with Qamara scoring a hat-trick and Coco adding to the tally.

 

One of the most thrilling group matches came against Southfields. Despite conceding an early goal, Fielding kept their composure and fought back with a flurry of late goals to secure a 4-1 victory. Coco's hat-trick and a strike from Qamara sealed the comeback.

 

The momentum continued as Fielding overwhelmed Little Ealing B with a 7-0 win, featuring hat-tricks from both Qamara and Coco, alongside a goal from Daisy. In their final group game, Fielding wrapped up with a convincing 5-0 victory over Lady Margaret, with Coco and Qamara each scoring twice and Martina adding her name to the scoresheet.

 

Knockout Rounds:

In a tense semi-final against Little Ealing, Fielding found themselves trailing early on. However, they displayed true grit, with Coco stepping up to score twice, including a dramatic last-minute winner to secure a narrow 2-1 victory.

 

Final Showdown: Fielding vs St Marks A

The tournament culminated in a nail-biting final against St Marks A. Fielding faced an early setback when St Marks opened the scoring. However, Fielding quickly regained their focus, with Qamara slotting in the equalizer. Tactical changes were made, and Daisy was brought on; within minutes of her introduction, she made an immediate impact, scoring to put Fielding in the lead. Coco then sealed the 3-1 victory with a brilliant finish, ensuring Fielding lifted the trophy.

 

Outstanding Performances:

  • Qamara was a standout performer, scoring 10 goals throughout the tournament.
  • Coco was equally impressive, contributing 11 goals, including crucial strikes in the knockout rounds.
  • Daisy's game-changing impact in the final, scoring soon after being subbed on, was a crucial turning point.

 

A huge congratulations to the Fielding girls' football team for their resilience, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament. They truly embodied the spirit of champions! Special mentions also to Miral, Alice Mc, Izzie, Lois, Martina and Elyssia.
