In Years 2-6, we follow the Read, Write, Inc (RWI) Spelling programme which is a continuation of the RWI Phonics scheme we follow in the earlier years. The scheme covers all the requirements of the National Curriculum. Until now, your child would have written their weekly spellings in their Reading Record book. Two weeks ago, children in Years 2-6 received a ‘Spelling Log’. This book will now be used for your child to write their spellings in daily.

On each page of the Spelling Log, the spelling pattern/ rule is explained which will help to support your child when practicing their spelling at home. Instructions of how to use the Log can be found on the inside cover of the Spelling Log. Please do read the instructions, encourage your child to look after their Spelling Log and support them with learning the spellings each week. There is extensive research that shows that spelling can be a barrier to achievement in writing. Let’s remove this barrier for your child!
