The school's Governing Board needs to appoint co-opted governors (who are not parents) and a parent governor by December.
Co-opted governors are appointed by the Board to match skills and knowledge to compliment the Board team. It is increasingly difficult to find governors because the last government closed the service that matched schools to potential governors. We need parents to help:
Parent governors hold the post for up to 4 years. A vacancy for a parent governor will become available this term.
- Parents are encouraged to contact Carl Pheasey or Alisa Voznaya (parents who are Co-Chairs of the Board) to find out more about being a Fielding school governor. Please send your name and contact details to admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk, marked Parent governor
- We will advertise the vacant parent governor role and start to find our next parent governor late October.
For both co-opted and/or a new parent governor, the Board is keen to find governors who have
- willingness to commit to a voluntary role, including undertaking training, which may match thoughts about own career growth or career change.
- a working knowledge of safeguarding children and child protection, perhaps through a social work, other public sector or voluntary role.
- financial knowledge and experience to help scrutinise the school's income and expenditure.
- any project management role.
- any strategic leadership or experience of board membership.
Governors volunteer to commit to:
- attending 4 Board meetings each year, usually in the evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Meetings are face-to-face at the school.
- joining and attending a sub-committee group with up to 6 meetings each year, usually in the morning from 8am to 10am. Meetings are face-to-face at the school or by video conference.
- visiting and meeting leaders in school 3 times a year for a couple of hours.
To keep a diversity of perspectives, we welcome applications from suitably experienced and interested people who reflect the rich, varied and diverse backgrounds of our school community.
