2024 APNA

On Friday 14th June, Fielding took two teams to the annual APNA competition. We entered the competition looking to win it for the fifth time in total and the third year in a row. Unfortunately, we were missing two important players through illness, with both Tem (6F) and Max (5S) unable to attend.

Our Performance team claimed first place in their group, winning all three games and scoring 27 goals, conceding zero. In the round of 16, we played against Hamborough and secured a convincing win, with the final score ending 11-0. Along our route to the final, we also achieved victories over Featherstone and Three Bridges with 8-0 and 6-0 wins. In the final, we faced off against St Marks with a rematch of last year’s final and despite a very close game, we were unable to come away with the trophy after a 2-0 loss.

Our Development team were equally as impressive qualifying out of the group with two wins out of three. A 2-1 win in the Round of 16 allowed them to progress through to the Quarter finals and with confidence high, they knew they had a chance to make it to the finals. A victory in the Quarter Final set up a an exciting Semi-Final with St Marks – who they had already played in the group stage. Despite their best efforts, the game ended with a 4-0 loss, however they showed amazing determination and resilience as they gave their all right up until the very end.
