5-1 victory in the PEAL Shield

On Friday 2nd February, the Boys Performance team hosted Mount Carmel in the final group game of the PEAL Shield.

We made a fast start to the game with Matt (6S) scoring after only a few minutes had been played. With the early goal scored, we knew we had the advantage and did not need to rush when we had possession. With good build up play out from the back, we searched for the second goal and after a cross in from the right-hand side, the ball fell to Matt (6S), who shifted it onto his right foot, slotting it into the bottom left hand corner to make it 2-0 and grabbing his second of the game with a excellent finish. We made a few substitutions, and they had an almost instant impact as Tem (6F) played an accurate through ball to Oscar (6P) who was able to remain calm and score with a composed finish. Mount Carmel started to push more players forward and after a ball over the top, they managed to score, making it 3-1.

After half time, we knew the game was far from over and needed to start in the same manner as we did in the first half. It was not long into the half before we managed to score again with Tem (6F) scoring after a fantastic dribble and assist from Yaqoob (6S). The boys were now eager to improve the goal difference and were persistent in their pressing and chance creation and the hard work paid off as Tem (6F) managed to grab his second of the game to make the score 5-1. With the game almost over, it was now about controlling the game to ensure we came away with all 3 points and near the dying minutes of the game, Mount Carmel had a late break on the counter but Charlie (6H) was there to make a great save to see the game out.
