Keeping Children Safe: Everyone Has a Role to Play

The Department for Education (DfE) has published a new illustrated guide titled Working Together to Safeguard Children, designed to help children understand what they can expect when they ask for help. It explains how different people and organisations, such as schools, social workers, health professionals, and the police, work together to keep children safe, supported, and protected.

At Fielding safeguarding is a whole-community effort. We deliver regular RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) and online safety lessons to help children understand how to stay safe both in the real world and online. These lessons are age-appropriate and designed to empower pupils with the knowledge and confidence to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

We also hold termly safeguarding assemblies, where children are reminded of the trusted adults they can talk to and the importance of looking after themselves and others. These assemblies reinforce the message that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

The DfE’s guide is a helpful resource for families, outlining what children should expect when they ask for help and what professionals are required to do to ensure they feel safe and supported.

We encourage all parents and carers to take a moment to read the guide and talk to their children about it.
