New school lunch menu launching after Easter, designed with your feedback in mind, and a chance to try out the new recipes!

We are excited to share that our new school lunch menu, created with ISS Feeding Hungry Minds, will launch after the Easter holidays. This menu has been shaped directly by feedback from both parents and pupils, gathered through our annual survey and ongoing conversations in school.

You Spoke, We Listened

What parents told us

Parents shared that they wanted:

  • more information about school meals;
  • fewer cakes for dessert;
  • fewer Quorn‑based options.

What pupils told us

Pupils said:

  • they didn’t enjoy the recent change to the chicken;
  • rice pudding wasn’t popular;
  • they missed baked potato days!

We’ve worked closely with ISS Feeding Hungry Minds to address all of this.

What’s New on the Menu?

Healthier desserts with hidden goodness

In response to parent requests to reduce cake‑based desserts, we have:

  • Replaced two cake days with fresh fruit
  • Continued offering half portions of cake with a fruit alternative

It’s also important to reassure parents that:

  • All cakes meet the DfE School Food Standards for sugar content, and
  • Many of the cakes are made with hidden vegetables such as beetroot, carrot or courgette to boost fibre and nutrition without compromising on taste.

This means children can still enjoy an occasional sweet treat that is healthier and carefully portion‑controlled.

Improved chicken dishes

Following pupil feedback, the chicken served has been changed back to a version pupils prefer, while still meeting nutritional and food quality standards.

Baked potato days are back

These much‑loved days have returned after strong requests from pupils. They offer a nutritious, filling option with a selection of toppings.

Favourites remain

Popular choices such as:

  • Pizza
  • Pasta
  • Roast dinners
    …continue to feature.

New dishes to explore

We’re also introducing some delicious new options, including:

  • Chickpea curry and Pitta
  • Thai green curry
  • Orange drizzle cake

These dishes offer variety, plant‑based protein, and child‑friendly flavours for pupils to explore.

Healthy, Balanced Meals Every Day

ISS Feeding Hungry Minds continue to fully meet the DfE School Food Standards, ensuring every meal is:

  • Nutritious
  • Balanced
  • Appropriate for primary‑aged pupils
  • Designed to support healthy eating habits
