New school menu launching after Easter holiday

Thank you to all the parents who joined us for the menu tasting event this week. It was wonderful to see  families sampling the new dishes, speaking with our catering team, and sharing thoughtful feedback. Your insights, along with feedback from pupils, have directly influenced the refreshed ISS Feeding Hungry Minds menu that will launch after the Easter holidays.

This new menu reflects our shared commitment to healthy eating, variety, sustainability, and creating mealtimes children genuinely enjoy.

You spoke, we listened

Through the annual parent survey, families asked for:

  • Clearer information about school meals
  • A reduction in cake‑based desserts
  • Fewer Quorn products
What pupils told us
  • They didn’t like the changes made to the chicken
  • Rice pudding wasn’t popular
  • They missed baked potato days

We have worked closely with ISS Feeding Hungry Minds to make meaningful changes based on this.

What’s New on the Menu?

To support healthy choices:

  • Two cake days have been replaced with fresh fruit
  • Cakes will continue to be served as half portions, always with a fruit alternative

Importantly:

  • All cakes meet the DfE School Food Standards for sugar content
  • Many contain hidden vegetables such as carrot, beetroot or courgette to increase nutritional value

Improved chicken dishes

Following pupil feedback, the chicken product has been changed to one children prefer, while still meeting nutritional standards.

The return of baked potato days

Children told us these days were among their favourites, so they’re back in the rotation.

 Familiar favourites remain

Popular dishes including:

  • Pizza
  • Pasta
  • Roast dinners
    …all continue to feature.

New dishes to explore

We are excited to introduce new dishes:

  • Chickpea curry and roti
  • Plant based red/green Thai curry
  • Orange drizzle cake

The parents who joined us this week, gave all 3 of these menu items a big thumbs up!

All of our meals are cooked from fresh ingredients daily by our ISS Feeding Hungry Minds catering team, headed up by our amazing chef, Zee.
