Updates to Recommended Reading Lists for 2026 - 2027

We are excited to share that there will be some updates to our Recommended Reading Lists for the upcoming academic year (2026–2027).

Some lists have been carefully revised to include new and engaging texts. The updated reading lists will be published on our school website next week, so please do keep an eye out.

These selected texts (both new additions and existing titles) have been thoughtfully chosen to support our Whole Class Reading (WCR) curriculum. In some cases, children may explore extracts in class rather than reading the full text. This approach is designed to introduce them to a wider range of authors, styles and themes, and to spark their interest in reading further.

We strongly encourage children to continue reading these at home and to take part in the Recommended Reading Challenges. The texts will also be readily available in classroom libraries, as well as in the main school library, to support and encourage independent reading both in school and at home. Completing the challenge is a wonderful way to build reading confidence and children can also earn certificates to celebrate their achievements!
