With very warm weather forecast over the coming days, we are putting additional measures in place to keep children safe and comfortable.
Children are more vulnerable to heat-related illness than adults, so we would appreciate your support with the following:
Please Ensure Your Child:
- Brings a named water bottle to school every day.
- Wears a sun hat (preferably with a wide brim).
- Arrives at school wearing sun cream. Staff are unable to apply sun cream routinely, except where agreed arrangements are already in place.
- Wears summer uniform or other approved lightweight clothing.
- Brings sunglasses if needed.
Sports Morning/Afternoon
We are currently planning for Sports Morning/Afternoon to go ahead.
To support children during the event:
- Additional water breaks will be built into the programme.
- Activities will be adapted where necessary.
- Pupils will have access to shade between events.
- Staff will closely monitor children for signs of overheating.
If temperatures rise to levels where vigorous physical activity is no longer advisable, we may shorten or cancel outdoor sporting activities. We will communicate any changes as quickly as possible.
In school
We will:
- Encourage frequent drinking of water.
- Maximise ventilation throughout the building.
- Use blinds and shade to reduce indoor temperatures.
- Limit strenuous activity if temperatures become excessive.
- Monitor vulnerable pupils carefully.
Thank you for your support as we work together to keep everyone safe and comfortable during the hot weather.
