
8 industrial-size, portable air conditioning units are helping to keep classrooms cool.
Hot weather is forecast until the end of the school year. Thanks to Mrs Haines' contacts, HSS Hire delivered 8 units to us today. The units are on hire until the end of the school year. Initially allocated to the 7 warmest classrooms on the first floor for years 4 and 5 and Dragonflies Nursery, we have the flexibility to move units around the school.
This week, year 6 pupils are in France, giving even more flexibility to move classes to cooler parts of the school.
Roof lights to classrooms on the first floor and in year 2, remain covered, reducing the amount of solar energy heating up the building. Where micro-louvres have been fitted to the outside of windows, classroom temperatures are 2-5oC cooler than equivalent rooms without the micro-louvres. We are monitoring classroom temperatures to keep pupils and staff safe.
