Year 5/6 Girls Emerging Football Team

What an incredible game it was for the Year 5/6 Girls’ team, as they pulled off an outstanding 4-1 victory against Holy Family. Showing empathy from the start, both coaches agreed for Holy family to play two additional players since their team were 1-2 years younger than our team. Our girls showed unbelievable respect, skill and collaboration, making it a match to remember!

From the very first whistle, the girls played with energy and focus. Despite the added challenge of having fewer players on the pitch, they didn’t back down. Persistent teamwork and determination resulted in an early goal from Eden (5S) to give Fielding the lead. Our team were ecstatic, but Holy Family responded quickly equalising shortly after.  At 1-1, the girls continued to press forward and look for options to score. After a quick substitution and within moments of stepping onto the pitch, Jessica (5H) performed an impressive strike that sent the ball to the back of the net.

At 2-1 and leading into the second half, our defence remained solid. The opposition tried everything to break through, but every time they pushed forward, the girls were ready. Sloane (6S) made an impressive save, keeping her body low to the ground and keeping her team in the lead. The midfielders worked hard to support the defence, tracking back when needed and keeping the pressure on the opponents.

In the final few minutes of the match and playing through the adverse weather conditions, the girls were keen to add to the scoring sheet. After one attempt at goal and receiving the ball back, Jessica (5H) blasted the ball with a half volley into the back of the net. Not stopping there, Eden (5S) saw a final opportunity to score in the bottom corner of the net, firmly placing Fielding in the lead.

By the final whistle, the score was 4-1, testament to all players hard work and determination. Well done and what a fantastic team effort!
