Fielding entered two teams in the Featherstone Partnership Hi5 Netball tournament: a performance squad and a development squad. In this tournament, players had to rotate positions in every game, meaning the teams couldn’t rely on their best shooters and required everyone to be adaptable. Despite having only two training sessions before the competition, both teams demonstrated great teamwork and effort.

 

The performance squad played four matches in the group stages:

• Little Ealing B 2 – Fielding A 0 (Loss)
• St John's A 0 – Fielding A 0 (Draw)
• Selbourne B 0 – Fielding A 4 (Win)
• St Mark's B 0 – Fielding A 2 (Win)

 

With two wins, one draw, and one loss, the performance team advanced to the quarter-finals, where they defeated Southfields 3-1. In the semi-final, they faced Little Ealing and were beaten 6-0. They then played St John's A for 3rd place and won 3-0.

 

Congratulations to the Performance Squad for achieving 3rd place overall out of 11 schools.

The development squad had some challenging matches in the group stages:

• Little Ealing A 6 – Fielding B 0 (Loss)
• St Mark's C 1 – Fielding B 0 (Loss)
• Selbourne A – Fielding B (Loss)
• Oaklands 0 – Fielding B 0 (Draw)

Although the results didn’t go in our favour, the children showed great resilience and perseverance throughout.
