For the first time ever the Years 5 & 6 Girls Football team have made it into the Ealing Girls Cup Final!

Today, the Year 5 & 6 Girls' football team faced off against local rivals Oaklands in a tense semi-final match. Recent encounters with Oaklands had proven challenging, particularly at the Featherstone tournament where scoring was difficult.

From the first whistle, Oaklands applied pressure on our defense. However, Coco (5P) scored the opening goal, which significantly boosted the team’s morale. Following this, Flo (6S) continued the momentum, securing a second goal for Fielding.

Unfortunately, the team became complacent. Oaklands capitalised on a corner, scoring to bring the score to 2-1 just before half-time.

The second half began dramatically, with a handball from Fielding giving away a penalty to Oaklands. In a stroke of luck, the penalty hit the post and missed. Coco (5P) then made a crucial run down the line, managing to keep the ball in play and crossing it to Flo (6S), who shot and scored.

Qamara (5S) contributed significantly with a series of excellent one-two passes to Flo (6S), whose shot deflected off the goalie and into the net. Darcy (6P) in defense made an impressive long pass to Flo (6S), who blasted the ball into the back of the net, completing her hat-trick.

Well done to the defense to managed to keep the ball out: Miral (5H), Lois (5P), Daisy (5P), Alice (5S), Darcy (6P) and Emily (6S).

Well done also to our Goal keeper Adelaide (6S) who made some excellent saves.

The match ended with a resounding 5-1 victory to Fielding. This historic win means that, for the first time ever, our team has advanced to the Ealing Girls' Cup Final. Date yet to be confirmed.

Special thanks to ...

Flo (6S), Coco (5P), Qamara (5S), Adelaide (6S), Darcy (6P), Emily (6S), Alice (5S), Lois (5P), Daisy (5P), Miral (5H)
