Promotions, leavers and joiners
Fielding is fully staffed with permanent, qualified teachers ready for the start of the new school year. Recruitment conditions are increasingly challenging with too few teachers training to join the profession nationally.
Teacher leavers
At the end of this school year, Miss Allen, Mme Mahvelati, Miss Bhatti, Miss Augustine and Mr Bloomfield leave Fielding:
- Miss Allen, Year Leader, moves to work outside London in a school closer to her home, following the birth of her second child. Faye has been a key part of the school's success over the last 9 years.
- Mme Mahvelati, French specialist teacher, leaves to take a career break and explore other opportunities. Sogol has championed and inspired pupils to learn French, including leading the annual residential trip to Burgundy for the last 8 years. Beyond Fielding, Sogol has led the network of primary French teachers for the Ealing Learning Partnership of schools.
- Miss Bhatti, class teacher, leaves to take a career break. Hafsa has gained her teaching qualification while working with us, moving from her first role as Cover Supervisor to qualified teacher.
- Miss Augustine gains a promotion to year leader at Little Ealing Primary School. Sadie trained to be a teacher with us. We wish her every success with her career.
- Mr Bloomfield, Year Leader, leaves to work outside London and closer to his new home and wife-to-be.
We wish them all well in the next step of their career and life plans.

Teacher changes

- Miss Watson gets married during the summer holiday. She is choosing to keep her maiden name, for now, but will be known as Mrs Watson in school.
- Miss Tsoukala also gets married during the summer holiday. She too is choosing to keep her maiden name and will be known as Mrs Tsoukala in school.
Teacher joiners
Three experienced teachers join us:
- Docus Talakinu becomes our French specialist teacher. Ms Talakinu is an experienced teacher who has been teaching French in other primary schools.
- Jackie Renault is a very experienced teacher joining us to enrich her career.
- Jessica Odogwu is an experienced teacher relocating to live in London. She had been waiting for a vacancy to arise at our school.
- Ruth Gleeson joins us as Cover Supervisor with substantial experience of teaching and supporting pupils in schools. Our Cover Supervisors mean than we can release and cover teachers for their other roles with the same, high quality person who is known to pupils.
Teachers and classes
We think about lots of different things when allocating teachers to year groups and classes to teachers. All senior staff, including Mrs Chadwick (SENDCo) share their views. These factors include:
- some teachers staying in the same age group so that they share strong, first-hand subject knowledge about the curriculum;
- some teachers moving up with the age group so that they know precisely what pupils have and have not covered in the curriculum the year before;
- teachers, especially at the early part of their career, staying in the same age group for at least 2 years to consolidate and develop their experience;
- teachers moving between age groups to increase their breadth of subject knowledge and experience;
- giving each class a range of different teachers, which can include alternating between a less experienced teacher one year followed by a more experienced teacher the next year;
- matching the specific needs of each class to the professional knowledge and skills of each teacher;
- if there has been any change in teacher mid-year, doing everything we can to reduce the risk of turbulence the next year;
- considering additional responsibilities such as Assistant Head teacher, Year Leader, subject leader or Early Career Teacher where teachers are released to work away from their class.
