Fielding Primary School's Year 5 & 6 boys cricket team delivered an outstanding performance at the Featherstone Sports Partnership cricket tournament. Competing against twelve schools, Fielding showcased their cricketing prowess and determination throughout the event.
In the group stages, Fielding faced off against Acton Gardens and Oaklands, securing decisive victories in both matches. Their strong performance earned them a spot in the quarter-finals, where they continued their winning streak by defeating Dairy Meadows.
The semi-final match was a highly anticipated clash against local rivals Little Ealing. Fielding once again demonstrated their skills and teamwork, emerging victorious and advancing to the finals.
In the final, Fielding encountered a new opponent, Durden's Park, in what turned out to be an exhilarating match. Fielding was elected to bat first and set an impressive target of 271 runs. Durden's Park rose to the challenge, and with just one ball remaining, they needed one run to win. In a dramatic turn of events, a misfield by Fielding allowed Durden's Park to score four runs, clinching the victory.
Despite the narrow loss in the final, Fielding Primary's exceptional performance throughout the tournament earned them second place. As a result, they have been selected to compete in the Ealing Borough Finals on Wednesday, 5th June. Congratulations to boys for their remarkable achievement!
