“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go.”— Dr. Seuss, “I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!”
To mark the occasion, and to help foster a love of reading, the children will take part in a variety of reading activities throughout the week.
Joseph Coelho, current Waterstones Children’s Laureate- live online event for KS1 and KS2- Joseph Coelho is an award-winning performance poet, playwright and children's author. His books include the critically acclaimed Luna Loves... series, If All The World Were, and the CLiPPA-shortlisted collection of poems, Overheard in a Tower Block. The session aims to inspire children to read for pleasure and may inspire them to write their own poetry.
A ‘Mystery Reader’ in Nursery and Reception will visit each class to share one of their favourite stories or poems with the children. Who could it be I wonder?
Buddy Reading is back by popular demand where older and younger children will get to share books together: Nursery will read with Year 5, Reception will read with Year 4, Year 1 with Year 3, and Year 2 with Year 6.
Donate a book- Is there a book your child loves to read? We would welcome any donations of a book to our libraries. It may be from our recommended reading lists or a recommendation that your child wants to share with others’. If they donate a book to school, they will be given a special label on which to write the reason they love the book, it will be stuck inside the cover for future readers to see who donated the book to our school and why. Books can be donated any day of Book Week. Thank you.
