DfE Parent Guides for 2025–26 Assessments
The Department for Education (DfE) has recently published updated parent information leaflets for all statutory and optional assessments taking place during the 2025–26 academic year. These leaflets are for parents who have children in: Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6.
The leaflets are designed to help parents and carers understand what each assessment involves and how it supports children’s learning. They are available to read online or download as PDFs and cover the following:
- Reception Baseline Assessment
- Phonics Screening Check (Year 1 and Year 2)
- Optional Key Stage 1 National Curriculum Tests (Year 2)
- Multiplication Tables Check (Year 4)
- Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Tests, Results and Teacher Assessment (Year 6))
We encourage all parents in these year groups and carers to take a look at the relevant leaflets, especially if your child will be taking part in any of these assessments this year. They offer clear, accessible information to help you feel confident and informed.
