Met Police launch MET Engage

Met Police introduce a new system to support communities by staying informed about local issues and to improve the way the police engage with residents. The system is called MET-ENGAGE.

MET-ENGAGE is  a two-way engagement tool that enables Neighbourhood Officers and PCSOs to share focused communications with specific local areas or community interest groups. Its purpose is to support crime prevention, provide timely local updates, and strengthen trust between the police and the community.

Unlike traditional “broadcast” methods, MET-ENGAGE allows for more personalised, responsive communication – adopting a “you said, we did” approach. At ward level, it will also replace other social media accounts, simplifying communication through one easy-to-use platform. The Metropolitan Police has now joined 34 other UK police forces already using this system.

Key Features:

  • Messaging Function – Targeted updates based on local or individual interests.
  • Survey Tool – Allows communities to share concerns, highlight where crime or anti-social behaviour is happening, or indicate when CCTV may be available. This helps ensure resources are effectively directed.
  • Audience Tools – Enables reassurance patrols and engagement tailored to specific communities.

Why Now?

  • To build trust and confidence by ensuring communities see and hear more from local officers.
  • To improve communication with local communities by tailoring responses to specific needs.
  • To provide consistency, replacing the current mix of platforms with one streamlined system.
