Over time, we’ve found that our current lockers are too small for many pupils. With lots of children taking part in after-school clubs, they often need to bring extra items into school. This has meant the original purpose of lockers—to keep coats and bags tidy and organised—has not been working as well as we would like.

We have already seen how well larger lockers work. In one Year 6 class, pupils have been using bigger lockers and coats and bags fit perfectly. This has helped keep the classroom calm, tidy and easier to use.

That’s why we’re pleased to be extending this to all pupils in Years 3–6. Every child will have access to a larger, individual locker, measuring:

• 420mm high
• 300mm wide
• 450mm deep

These new lockers will give pupils more space and help everyone keep their belongings safe and organised throughout the day.

If you are planning to buy a new school bag for September, please make sure it will fit inside these dimensions so it can be stored easily.

We’re really looking forward to this improvement and hope it will make a big difference to pupils’ daily school experience.
