Volunteers

Year 2 will be sewing next week. It's really helpful to have extra support to help thread needles as well as help children sew. You don't need to be sewing experts! We need help 1:45 - 2:45 on the following dates:

2H and 2F Thursday 7th May

2P and 2S Wednesday 6th May

Please tell the class teachers if you are available to help. Thank you.

Recorders

2P and 2S - Please bring recorders in to school every Tuesday starting on 2nd June. Please make sure they have a name on. Ms Lynch has asked parents to buy one recorder for their child. They will be needed for the summer term. The children will need a descant recorder like this one. If this is a problem, please email admin/ Ms Lynch as she has some recorders that children can borrow. Thank you for your support.

Cooking & Gardening

We are proud to offer all pupils the opportunity to take part in cooking sessions during the school day. These sessions take place in the School House kitchen and are led by the class teacher.

Fresh ingredients from our school garden are used wherever possible, helping children learn about food, nutrition, and sustainability.

To support this programme, we ask for a voluntary annual contribution of £13.00, which covers the cost of additional ingredients for the full school year (September 2025 – July 2026).

  • To contribute, please log into your MCAS account
  • The fee can be found in the Clubs section and added to your basket.

Your support helps us continue offering this valuable hands-on learning experience. Thank you!

Healthy Snacks

To help keep energy levels up and minds focused, we encourage pupils to bring a healthy snack for break time.

Great options include:

  • Fresh fruit or vegetables
  • Plain rice cakes or crackers
  • A small pot of dried fruit
  • Cheese cubes or yoghurt (in a cool pack)

Please do not send sweets, chocolate, crisps, and fizzy drinks. Let’s work together to support healthy habits and happy learning!

Homework

Reading

Reading and/or talking about their reading to an adult for at least 20 minutes, 5 times a week. Complete your child’s reading record each time they read. Remember it doesn’t always have to be their school book. Reading records and reading books should be sent into school daily.

Mathematics Numbots should be completed at least once per week for 10 minutes. https://numbots.com/
Spelling patterns

Please use these to practise spelling patterns and other words that are recorded. Some words are called red words because they are common exception words (Y2 list) that also need to be learned in Year 2 and our phonics skills can't always be applied to these words.  Orange words are words connected to our learning in school.  The spelling words will also be recorded here.
