Bereavement

Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK is a national charity that provides free, confidential support to children, young people (up to age 25), parents and families when a child is grieving or when a baby or child has died. They also support families before a death, where someone important is not expected to live, helping children and young people understand and prepare for what is happening.

Support includes:

  • A national helpline, email and live chat offering advice and emotional support to families and professionals
  • Information, guidance and resources for children, young people, parents and carers
  • Specialist support for schools and professionals, including training on supporting bereaved pupils and developing bereavement‑aware practice

Child Bereavement UK’s work is inclusive and sensitive to different needs, cultures and experiences, and support is available wherever you live in the UK
