Assessment outcomes for the autumn term are now available on MCAS Full details on how to access them can be found in this news article:
If you have another child in the Nursery, Reception or the ARP, you will get a separate email regarding their outcomes and when they will be published.
We wrote to parents earlier in the term to share the changes that are happening in the way we teach writing. The ‘I am a Clever Writer (IAACW)’ approach, goes back to basics – it focuses on improving skills in spelling, handwriting, and grammar. As we transition to IAACW, you will notice that your child's writing outcomes appear lower than expected when they are published. This is due to the adjustments we are making to align with this new method. For some children it will look like they have made no progress, for others it might even appear that they have ‘gone backwards.' This is completely normal as we gain a better understanding of the gaps children have in their knowledge. Class teachers are keeping a close eye on each child's progress and will provide the support they need to succeed. Find out more here:
We know you might have questions about these changes and your child's assessment outcomes. To keep you informed, class teachers will discuss your child's progress and the next steps during the upcoming parent consultation meetings. This is a great chance to understand how the IAACW approach benefits your child and to work together on ways to support their learning at home. For more details, refer to your Year Group Noticeboard on our website for key indicators in writing for your child's age group.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we implement this new approach to enhance your child's writing skills.
