As a school, we implemented our values-based education over ten years ago. We understood the power that teaching values could have on a child’s development. A decade on we have reflected on our next steps as a values-based school. During this academic year we aim to strengthen our values-based ethos and learning. We move towards our Values Based Living approach.
Values based living enlightens pupils about the importance of positive values, helping them develop a strong moral character, an understanding of the consequences of their actions, and a commitment to doing what is right. We want to support all pupils in developing a strong and secure sense of self. An education that nurtures the disposition of self-leadership, which contributes to improved pupil achievement, behaviour, relationships, communication skills and mental health.
As we start this academic year we have launched our inner curriculum lessons. This curriculum incorporates our Mind Up and No Outsiders programmes alongside the teaching of school values. It aims to promote an educational philosophy based on valuing self, others and the environment through the consideration of an ethical values vocabulary.
Throughout this academic year we will be sharing the progress of our values based living approach. As a school, we are excited by these changes and the positive impact it will have the children who attend Fielding.
