PE and Sport

Physical Education and Sport

At Fielding, we believe physical activity is essential for healthy development, emotional wellbeing, and academic success. It helps children grow stronger, manage stress, focus better, and build positive relationships.

Through PE and sport, children learn to:

  • Develop physical skills and fitness
  • Compete fairly and cooperate with others
  • Appreciate creativity and skilled performance
  • Understand teamwork and individual responsibility

Our Approach

We deliver a broad and balanced PE curriculum that meets the National Curriculum requirements. Our goals include:

  • Ensuring all pupils can swim 25m and have basic water safety skills before secondary school
  • Building fitness through active, high-energy lessons
  • Linking PE with other subjects (e.g. using athletics data in maths and ICT)
  • Adapting activities to include all pupils, including those with additional needs
  • Involving the wider community through sports days, clubs, and inter-school competitions
  • Promoting positive values like leadership, cooperation, and tolerance

Beyond the Curriculum

Our pupils take part in:

  • Borough competitions and sports festivals
  • Local school fixtures and friendly matches
  • A wide range of after-school clubs, including:
    • Netball
    • Tag Rugby
    • Football
    • Cricket
    • Martial Arts
    • Dance
    • Tennis
    • Athletics
