Charity Event

We would be grateful for any coins which could be donated for our Charity event on Tuesday 3rd of Feburary. We are collecting in aid of our chosen charity Cancel Research.

In The Night Garden: Nursery Family Event

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are excited to invite you to our ‘In the Night Garden’ event on Friday, 6th February, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fielding Nursery.

The event will feature lights and music in the outdoor Nursery area, creating a magical night-time experience for the children. All Nursery children and their siblings are welcome, provided they are accompanied by a parent or carer. Please note that Nursery staff will not be able to supervise children during the event.

Inside the Nursery, we will offer free refreshments and some night-themed activities. Toilets for both adults and children will be available throughout the evening.

Children are welcome to bring torches to help them explore the garden at night.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the outdoor space in a new way and for parents to meet and connect with other families.

If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to ask.
As the event is weather-dependent, we will need to cancel if it is raining or if rain is forecast during the event time.

We look forward to seeing you for a starry evening of fun and exploration!

************Fingers crossed for our event. I will email if the event is cancelled. *******

Parent Workshop: Language and Communication and Personal, Social and Emotional development in Nursery Children

Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the workshop. I am glad you found it useful. I will be running another workshop in the Spring Term about Phonics in the Nursery. There will be more details nearer the time. I have included the Power-Point from the workshop below. Thank you

Outdoor Learning Space

We know how inviting our outside area is for the children, but please keep all children away from our outside equipment when you drop off or pick up your child. Thank you for your help and support.

Wow Notes

It is always wonderful to hear all the wonderful things the children in the Nursery can achieve when they are at home or out and about exploring with their family. 'Wow' notes are a great way of giving us extra information we can use to assess how your child/children are progressing within the Early Years Foundation Stage. So if your child/children does something amazing or unexpected that surprises you, pop it on a 'Wow' note and bring into in to the Nursery. We can then add it to their Learning Journey, and it gives us additional evidence of the progress they are making while at the Nursery.

Values Ambassadors

To reward the Nursery children when they continue to make ‹good choices‹, we place a picture of them on the ‹Values Ambassadors‹ board. At the end of each week, we choose one girl and one boy who have been showing and demonstrating our Values and also following our ‹Golden Rules‹. Each child then receives a sticker, a small certificate to take home and a round of applause from their friends. With so many amazing children in the Nursery, it is always a hard choice.

Forest School

Forest School sessions are led by Nursery Teachers and Mrs Watts who is a certified Forest School teacher as well as the class teacher for RF Reception class at Fielding.

You will receive a message via your MCAS account on a Friday/Wednesday to let you know if your child is attending Forest School on Monday/Thursday. If you child is due to attend Forest School, then please send them to Nursery with wellies or waterproof shoes. They will also need a raincoat/shower jacket as the weather does not stop us.

The Fielding Forest School is located on our school field. Children will have the opportunity to explore the forest and take part in themed and seasonal activities.

Children Bringing Comfort Toys to Nursery

While the children are settling into the Nursery we understand that some children need to bring comfort toys to the Nursery to help them in their settling on process. We encourage the children to keep comfort toys in their bags so that they do not get lost.

If children mislay any items which they bring to Nursery we will attempt to find them and return them. Unfortunately, we are unable to spend time looking for items during busy periods in the Nursery. If a child loses an item, we will then look for it at the end of the session or at the beginning of the next day. We ask parents if they can please be patient to have items returned and not expect staff to look for items during the session.

Using Cutlery

We are encouraging children to use a knife and fork when they eat lunch and tea in the Nursery. Children of Nursery age are able to use cutlery and with help they soon learn how to use a knife and fork correctly when eating. Some foods are harder to cut than others, and they will still need help cutting up food before they eat it. Please encourage your child to use a knife and fork at home and model good cutlery use.

Thank you for your support.

Supporting your child during toilet training.

Please find links to a supporting document and website to help support your child with their toilet training. Please view the document and website and continue to encourage your child to use the toilet at home.

Supporting Children with Additional Needs

All children may experience some difficulties in learning from time to time during their school life. We aim to provide equal access to the whole curriculum for all children including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).  All nursery staff are involved in the learning and development of pupils with SEND with Parents/Carers involved at all stages.

Mrs Chadwick is the school SENDCo, and she works closely with nursery.

We place great emphasis on identifying pupils with additional needs as early as possible, therefore ensuring a differentiated curriculum to accommodate individual needs and allow maximum access to the curriculum. Where a child has a particular individual need, we will make reasonable adjustments to help them overcome their difficulties, which may include additional support. Depending on the identified need this support may take place in class, in a small group or on an individual basis. On occasion, additional support is sought from an external agency such as;

  • School Health
  • Behaviour Support service
  • Educational Psychology Service
  • Speech and Language
  • Occupational Therapy
  • SEN Inclusion team
  • Early Start
  • Family support

Early Pick Up during PM Sessions

If you are picking your child up from Nursery before 3.78pm please inform us by passing a message over to a member of our Nursery Team on the door or by phoning or emailing us. If you are picking up from the Ladybird class at 3.78pm then please be aware that the Ladybird children go to tea at 3.78pm till 4.00pm. We will have the children ready to go at 3.78pm if we know in advance. If we are unaware that you are collecting your child at 3.78pm they may be on their way to tea and may be disappointed that they will miss tea. Thank you for your continued support and consideration.
