Funding and help with childcare costs

The Nursery has access to all eligible Government funding, however all families will have to pay some fees.

The key points for the different types of funding which families at Fielding Nursery may typically be able to access, according to eligibility, are outlined below.

For a full explanation of funding available, eligibility criteria and the application process visit 'Childcare Choices'

Universal 15 hours Government funded childcare

For all families in England:

  • 15 hours of “free” childcare or early education for 38 weeks
  • with 3 and 4-year-old children from the term after the child’s 3rd birthday which must fall before the relevant cut-off date in order to receive the funding the following term. These dates are:

31st August for the Autumn term (September – December)

31st December for the Spring term (January – March/April)

31st March for the Summer term (April – July)

Fielding Nursery will access this funding and apply it to fees, reducing the cost to pay. Funding can only be used for morning and afternoon sessions during term time can use funding flexibly between childcare providers

Additional 15 hours Government funded childcare

For families where:

  • both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family);
  • each parent has a weekly minimum income equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage or living wage (£131 per week minimum) and neither parent has an income of more than £100,000 per year.

Additional eligibility applies to:

  • parents temporarily away from the workplace
  • parents with caring responsibility or disability

Parents have to apply for this funding themselves and check the details every three months in order to retain the funding. Fielding Nursery will deduct this funding from the invoice for each child

Government plans for the future include the expansion of childcare support for working families to include children aged 9 months to school age.
