  • Cooking contributions - payment reminder

    Thu 29 Nov 2018

The second round of cooking lessons for this school year is going well. Don't forget to check your Year Group Noticeboard to find out when it is your child's classes turn.

Thank you to those parents who have paid the £4 voluntary contribution for this term. Unfortunately numbers for this are still very low, which means we still aren't yet able to be as creative with the cooking as we would like to be.

The £4 contribution for this half-term has been added to Laser, ready for you to add to your cashbook. To make a payment:

    1. Log on to Laser
    2. Select Trips, Events and Music
    3. Click on Booking
    4. Click on Other
    5. Find your year group voluntary contribution, click 'book event'
    6. Follow the instruction on the screen through to payment on World Pay.

  • PTFA Christmas Fair, Non-uniform day this Friday

    Tue 27 Nov 2018

Bottle tombola: Non-uniform day Friday 30th November

Parents are being asked to donate a bottle to the PTFA for their Bottle Tombola stall at our Christmas Fair.  For every bottle kindly donated, pupils may chose to wear their own clothes to school.  Bottle collection and non-uniform day will take place on Friday 30th November.

Year 3 pupils, who would usually come to school in their PE uniforms on a Friday, are asked to wear clothes that are suitable for a PE, sport and games session for example, a favourite football kit, leggings/jogging bottoms, t-shirt and long-sleeved top.

The PTFA Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 1st December - all welcome and encouraged to attend.

  • The anxious or worried child, supporting parents

Mon 26 Nov 2018 Clare Haines

It’s quite natural for children to worry and to be anxious at various stages of school and home life. Most children will learn how to manage their thoughts, feelings and emotions, but some may need extra support. This website is full of resources and support for families.

If you are worried about your child the following routes are available in school:

    • speak to your child's class teacher;
    • sign up for our Family Links classes with Mrs Reehal and Mrs Gill (new classes start January);
    • arrange to speak with Mrs Reehal our Learning Mentor
    • look out for our monthly parent drop-in sessions with Mrs Chadwick and Mrs Reehal

    Sat 24 Nov 2018
Sibling photographs take place on Monday 26th November. If your child does not attend Nursery on this day or attends only in the afternoon then you will have received a separate email. For all other children with siblings this will be organised by your child's class. We are lucky to have amazing organised Year 6 children who will ferry the children to and from their classes. Children in 2H with siblings, please ensure your child brings in their full school uniform as gardening and cooking takes place on this day.  These photographs are for Fielding children only.
  • Author visit next Thursday 29th November- Chris Callaghan

    Fri 23 Nov 2018 P. Whaley

On Thursday 29th November, we are planning an exciting event for the children. Chris Callaghan, author of ‘The Great Chocoplot’ has agreed to visit the school to talk to the children about his book.

Chris is a great author and performer and we are delighted to have secured a visit by him. He will be talking to the children to provide inspiration for their own writing and also enthusing them about the joy of reading. This will support the English work that we do in school and we hope it will prove a stimulating experience for the children.

Afterwards there will be an opportunity for the children to buy a copy of his book, ‘The Great Chocoplot’ and get it dedicated to them and signed by Chris. A signed book can be a permanent reminder of a special experience and can reinforce the message about the importance of reading. If your child would like to purchase a copy of the great chocoplot book, please make sure you bring in the correct money in a clearly labelled envelope to the front office (£6.00) during the days before. It must have your child's name and class on for us to be able to process the order. Please send cash rather than a cheque if possible, as this makes life a lot easier for us. Of course, if your child already owns any of Chris’s books they can bring those in and he will be happy to sign them.

We are sure you will agree that this is an opportunity not to be missed and the children can look forward to a very exciting day!

  • Christmas Fair is coming - Saturday 1 December

    Fri 23 Nov 2018

The Christmas Fair is approaching fast! At midday on Saturday 1 December school will open its doors for the annual Fielding Christmas Fair. Please come and join in the fun and games and support the PTFA. It's our biggest revenue generator of the year.

We have a host of great attractions this year and we'll be using the outside area again - which frees up vital space in the halls. You can visit Santa in his grotto, get your face painted, record the moment our festive photobooth, and don't forget to try your luck on the Tombola. Why not enjoy a glass mulled wine while listening to the choir singing carols and then when you are feeling peckish, grab yourself a Turkey Bap (vegetarian option available). We will also be bringing back the Virtual Reality Santa Sleigh Ride and new for this year will be the Busking Stage, Wreath Making and Just Dance - where you can compete against each other in the dance arena.

The class stalls have been chosen and we hope your reps have told you which stall your class is running and how you can help. Every stall needs volunteers on the day of the fair and some stall also require a lot of organising beforehand. If you are attending the fair with your children, please arrange to volunteer for a slot, or see how you can help your class rep. It is only with your help, that, we can make it a successful day.

Bottle and chocolate collection day: Friday 30 November is bottle collection day for the Tombola - please drop in a full unopened, in date, bottle (of anything you fancy...) or a box of chocolates, at the collection points at the school gates. As usual, this means it is a non-school uniform day for the children. If your child is doing PE on that date, then please send them in something they will be able to run around in and trainers. The Tombola is always a popular stall at the fair, and raises lots of money, so we need as many prizes as possible!

Santa’s Grotto: Although Santa’s grotto sold out all its advanced tickets last week, there will be 50 spaces available on the day for walk ups. The Grotto will be in the School House.

Cakes: Once the turkey bap has been polished off it is customary to stroll over to the refreshment stall to pick up a sweet treat! What could be better than a homemade cupcake or slice of lemon drizzle? Please help the stall pile them high by donating cakes and other sweet treats, preferably to the stall on the fair day.

Christmas trees: Once again Christmas trees will be on sale at the Christmas Fair. The price of the trees is comparable to local sellers, they looked good, lasted really well over the Christmas period and the school gets a great percentage of all the trees sold. The sizes will range from 1.5m to 2.25m+. You'll also be able to purchase stands too.

Other donations: Teddies for the Teddy Tombola, please drop in freshly washed soft toys in the donation boxes. Secondhand uniform (only new logo items please), sports kit, fancy dress (especially for school dressing up days) and Christmas jumpers will all be sold this year. Please make sure it's in good condition and washed and ready to sell. We are also looking out for any Christmas tree decorations - we need to retire the school ones after 10 years along with any wool, old Christmas cards or party bag leftovers . From Monday 26 November, donations can be left in boxes outside the main hall, by the Wyndham Road entrance.

Buggies & Pushchairs: Please leave buggies and pushchairs at home or bring a rain cover to leave it parked outside. Space is at a premium and the fair is a buggy free zone!

Cloakroom: We are offering a cloakroom facility again, by the main hall for a small donation. So why don’t you leave your coat here, rather than carrying it around with you during the fair. Please note, the stall will not be manned, so please don’t leave anything valuable in your pockets.
