  • Celebrating sport at Fielding

Thu 22 Dec 2016 Mr Thomas

This year at Fielding we want to ensure that all of our children's sporting achievements are properly recognised and celebrated. So new for 2016-17 is the awarding of sports patches at our termly Sporting Celebration assemblies. Every time your child represents Fielding in a new sport, they will be awarded a sports patch which is to be ironed on to the top of the RIGHT arm of your child's fleece, jumper or cardigan. Today some children will come home with sports patches so please iron your child's patch on to their uniform ready to show it off in the new term after Christmas.

We have had a fantastic Autumn term of sports with so many great achievements and are now starting to look forward to even more in the Spring term. So from the PE team -  Merry Christmas, enjoy the mince pies and the mulled wine and we will see you all in January!

  • Videos of Choir and Orchestra

Wed 21 Dec 2016 Michael Mappin

    Watch our gifted musicians

So successful was the Christmas Concert featuring Choir, Orchestra and Recorder Ensemble that we repeated it for the whole school (minus the recorders).  We have so many gifted musicians in our school that it's good to blow our own trumpet (sorry) and celebrate the talent, so we videoed some of the pieces.  Visit the Music Page (CLICK) to watch 3 of the performances.

By the way, if you want to audition for Orchestra, you should speak to Mr Mappin about it...you should be of Grade 1 standard or above and play an orchestral instrument.  If you're not quite ready yet, keep practising hard (or even take up an instrument...Mr Mappin's the person to talk to) and perhaps you'll be ready next school year.  CLICK HERE to email Mr Mappin.

  • Specialist Club Update

    Wed 21 Dec 2016

    Many of the Specialist Clubs were booked up very quickly last week however there is still availability in the following sessions;

Monday London Scottish Rugby, Playground Tennis, Muddy Hands Gardening, Olmo Spanish Club

    Tuesday SOTA Art Club

Wednesday Drama, London Scottish Rugby, La Jolie Ronde French Club, Olma Spanish Club, Fielding Singing Club

Thursday La Jolie Ronde French Club, Olma Spanish Club, Sewing Club, Enpoint Ballet RAD

Friday QPR Football, SOTA Art Club, QPR Yoga, Gymnastic

See the Specialist Clubs over view for timings and year groups.

    Bookings made through Laser.

Mad Science and What’s for Tea? Cooking club were extremely popular new additions to the programme. These clubs will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality and enjoyment, if all is well further places will be introduced in the future.

Remember if your child did not get a place in their chosen club, please add their name to the waiting list. Previously children have been promoted to clubs at the beginning and during the term when a space becomes available. The waiting list is actively used to monitor demand and informs future club opportunities. An example of this is the Enpoint Ballet class, based on demand a new Thursday session has been opened up for the Spring Term. Currently, although some clubs are full, such as Judo, the waiting list does not reflect sufficient demand to introduce a further session at present. If the 3.30pm session is fully booked it is possible the 4.30pm sessions have availability, children can either return to school or be booked in at the after school club during the hour before club starts.

All clubs will start back on the first day of the week they are due to run unless highlighted on the Specialist Club overview.

  • Year 1's Christmas Showcase

    Tue 20 Dec 2016

Last week was especially exciting for year 1 as we had our Christmas Showcase! The children created glittery snowflakes, letters to Father Christmas and Christmas cards! They wore special elf hats and performed in front of parents and teachers.

In preparation for this, Year 1 had been learning three Christmas songs and two Christmas poems. Once children had learnt the words we had lots of fun creating actions for our songs. As we got closer to the performance the children were getting more and more excited to show off their hard work to their adults. A child in 1H said, ‘I can’t wait to perform for the parents! We have worked so hard to learn our lines.’

After the Christmas show case it was clear how much fun the children had performing for their adults and how happy and impressed the parents were at all the children’s hard work.

  • Fed up with lost property?!

    Fri 16 Dec 2016

Lost property is frustrating for children, parents and school staff.

Over the years we have tried many solutions, none of which seem to work! So on to the next idea. From today we will have two central locations for all lost property for parents and children to access before and after school every day.

We have purchased 6 wheelie bins; 3 will be placed at the end of the Year 3 block and 3 at the end of the Year 1 block:

    • large blue bins for all lost jackets and coats
    • smaller red bins for jumpers and fleeces
    • smaller green bins for all other items.

Please continue to label your children's clothes and other items as this is the quickest way to get their belongings back to them.
