    Christmas Cards

We just wanted to thank the parents, for your understanding and patience, with the Christmas cards this year. It has been good to hear the positive feedback about the cards, when they did finally arrive. A big thank you to Erica Jenkins and the admin staff who have spent hours collecting forms and sorting out the cards when they did arrive. If anyone is still missing items please email the PTFA to let us know.

    Christmas Fair

We hope your class reps have passed on our thanks, for all your support at the Christmas fair. If you were able to attend, we hope you enjoyed the day and thank you to all those parents who helped out. The fair would not be possible without your help, time and energy. We are still waiting for some expenses to come in and will be able to let you know the final amount after Christmas, but we are hopeful it will be around £9000... What a fantastic start to the fundraising for the development of the middle playground!

Finally, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  • Hockey trials Wednesday 11th January

Thu 15 Dec 2016 Mr Thomas

Hockey squad training will begin in the new year on Wednesday mornings. Spaces in the squad will be limited so on Wednesday 11th January we will be holding Hockey trials for Year 5 and 6 boys and girls. Children who are selected through the trials will then be invited to hockey training every Wednesday morning at 7.45am for the first half term. Those children who are part of the squad and train every week could possibly get the chance to represent Fielding at competition.

Get your hockey sticks out and practise over the holidays!

If you have any questions about the trials please feel free to get in touch.

  • Year 4 - Tis the Season

Thu 15 Dec 2016 Mr McConnachie

The weather outside is frightful, but the atmosphere in school is so delightful with a focus on friendship and good will this holiday season.  Loyalty, compassion and closeness towards each other, how to be a good friend and how to make new friends has kicked started our jolly festive spirit leading up to the Christmas holidays. Year 4 have explored fabulous cities around the world and have finished their Topic unit on ‘Where in the world would you build a city?’, with some spectacular charcoal sketches of various New York City landmarks.

Creative home learning projects have been flooding in already with some truly amazing pieces of work, musical recordings and magnificent mini cities!  The Home Learning Showcase will be this coming Monday and as usual, they will be exploring all of the work done by visiting all of the Year 4 classes and providing peer feedback to their favourite items.

In DT this half term, Year 4 have been designing a burglar alarm and will be making a prototype using their science skills to create a pressure pad switch to set off the alarm!  They will need shoe boxes so if you could bring any empty shoe boxes lying around the house Year 4 would be very grateful!

Finally, all of the Year 4 teaching and support staff would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays, and a very merry Christmas!

  • Values Sculpture

    Thu 15 Dec 2016

Excitingly, our new values sculpture was installed this morning at the end of the path leading from the main office. This sculpture was designed by the current Year 3 pupils when they were in Year 2. The sculpture is an amalgamation of all their ideas, with the main themes being; friendship, unity, determination and tolerance. The main body of the sculpture shows three spheres which represent three children with their arms in the air (friendship, tolerance and unity) and the three different levels of height represent steps to success and making progress throughout their school journey (determination). Having a visual representation of Values-based Education at Fielding, will help to further embed the culture and ethos at our school for parents, pupils, staff and visitors alike.

  • Bronze medals for Sports Hall Athletics team

Tue 13 Dec 2016 Mr Thomas

Fielding went to Featherstone High School for a Sports Hall Athletics competition on Friday and performed very well to finish in 3rd place overall. That means that our team of 12 athletes won a bronze medal each and the chance to compete in the SHA regional games which will be held at some point in the new year. Fantastic effort SHA team, well done from everybody at Fielding.

Check out the PE page in the coming days for the full report and full results for each event.

  • Specialist Club Launch

Tue 13 Dec 2016 Karen Esprit

    High demand and additional spaces

As the bookings for specialist clubs went live yesterday evening, record numbers of parents attempted to log on at the same time. This caused the system to slow down but with IT support in place the system managed to stay live. We acknowledge there is an issue with the speed of the Laser system at these peak times and are looking to improve this for the future.

A number of new clubs were introduced for next term and proved to be very popular. If you were not successful in booking your child into their desired club, please do add their name to the waiting list. This enables us to monitor demand and where possible open up more spaces:

    • last term, Drama club had a waiting list, this term Drama club has been moved to a larger space enabling us to increase numbers
    • from January, an additional ballet session starts to meet your demand, further reducing waiting lists

QPR football has started earlier this year compared to last year but places have been limited due to early evenings and contingency arrangements in the event of wet weather.  QPR football spaces will increase to full capacity after half-term.

Your feedback and suggestions are really important as this is used to continuously monitor and evaluate to make continuous improvements.

  • Nursery Pupil Premium forms

    Tue 13 Dec 2016

Last week forms were sent home for parents of our Nursery children to complete and return to the school office. This is to ascertain whether each Nursery child is eligible for extra funding.

Pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers. If you have not already submitted these details, then please forward your form to the school office by Tuesday 20th December 2016.

  • Year 5-Slimy Stuarts

    Fri 09 Dec 2016

Over the last 4 weeks, Year 5 have been sharing all their wonderful knowledge on the Stuarts in their sharing assemblies.

Parents were amazed by all the hard work and effort that has been put into the assemblies and it was absolutely amazing to see how much effort the year 5 children had put into their outfits and costumes for their time in the limelight, however this is not the end of the Stuarts for Year 5.

Year 5 have started to write non chronological reports about the plague. They have already written a piece of work and are currently improving on their grammar skills.

We have found that all year 5 classes have thoroughly enjoyed learning about The Stuarts and will be sad to see the unit end.
