  • Staff joiners

Thu 11 Jan 2018 Peter Dunmall

We welcome new members of staff to our team from the start of January.

Jane Peterson becomes our new Finance Assistant, replacing Sandra Read.  Jane is also mum to Lily and Henry, Year 5.

Aisha Bovell, Bernice Burnett and Danielle Subanney join our Nursery team as Teaching Assistant, Early Years Practitioner and Playworker respectively.  Over the last few months, the Nursery staff has expanded to a team of 22 nursery teachers, childcare and education professionals to meet the increasing demand for our wrap-around Nursery for 3 & 4 year old children.

  • PTFA activity to be discussed - Meeting Mon 15 Jan 2018 (9am & 8pm)

    Thu 11 Jan 2018

The PTFA will reveal the results of the 'Events Survey' that was conducted during December which included some very exciting ideas from the 130 parents that took part in the survey.

The meeting, being held on Monday 15 January, will be repeated twice during the day (once in the morning and again in the evening) to allow as many parents/carers to participate.

We will be reviewing activity from the last few events, including the Christmas Fair, alongside where some of the money raised is expected to be spent on the school - such as the new allotments planned within the school grounds.

The morning meeting is in the school house after morning drop off (9.00am) and the evening meeting on the same day, also in the school house at 8.00pm. All parents are welcome to join us at one of these meetings and it would be great to see as many of you as possible. The morning meeting is accompanied by tea and coffee. The evening meeting is accompanied by a glass of wine and it would be great for parents to stay for a drink or two after the meeting. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents especially if you are new to the school. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Year 2 Piano & Violin lessons

Mon 08 Jan 2018 Michael Mappin

Lessons begin this week.  Today (Monday) your child was shown where to go for lessons.  The class teacher will let your child know in good time when to go for the lesson, but it would be very useful if you could remind your child before school.

In the event that you have lost the timetable, there is a LINK HERE to the appropriate part of the Music page.  There is also information about instruments.  Violinists will need their own instrument (hire information is included) and pianists will need something to practise on at home.

Your child's tutor will provide information about which book(s) to get, and your child will be given a Practice Book which can also be used to contact the tutor.  Alternatively, I would be pleased to help you if I can, either directly, or by forwarding a message to the tutor  (EMAIL ME HERE).

We are extremely fortunate to be welcoming children's author and performance poet, Neal Zetter, to Fielding next Friday 12th January.

As with previous author visits, he will be leading phase assemblies during the morning and afternoon for children in Reception up to year 6 and will be selling and signing copies of his books in the KS2

If you would, please complete the order form and return it to the school office with correct change (no cheques please) in the envelope provided. Please label the envelope clearly with your child's name, class and author visit. • Childcare and specialist clubs

    Thu 04 Jan 2018

Please be reminded Spring term childcare and specialist club fees are now due.

There are two ways to make payment, either in full or 50% now and the remainder by Friday 16th February.

However specialist clubs must be paid for in full at the point of booking unless using childcare vouchers. Non-payment of specialist clubs or childcare may result in your child's name being taken off the register, but you will still be required to settle the fee.

Childcare bookings will automatically roll over from term to term unless cancelled, please log into Laser to ensure your child’s cashbook is in order. If you notice duplicate bookings or are experiencing difficulties paying, contact the Childcare Manager as soon as possible to discuss options. childcare@fielding.ealing.sch.uk

Remember, childcare and Specialist clubs often work in partnership, if you have booked a specialist club please make sure you have also booked the after school club to complement your booking if needed.

We know sometimes the unexpected happens; rest assured ad hoc childcare bookings are always available for parents running late or in need of childcare, bookable through Laser before 2.00pm on the day.

  • Parent Governor ballot result

Thu 04 Jan 2018 Peter Dunmall

Background checks and vetting have now been completed following the recent parent governor ballot. Yvette Cook and Rebecca Preston have been appointed as parent governors to the Governing Body of the school. Their term of office will be 5 years. Full results:

    Yvette Cook, 188

    Rebecca Preston, 118

    Kim Wakeham, 117

    Justin Johnson, 106

    Georgina Harrington-Mason, 105

19 spoilt ballots and 4 blanks

3 candidates observed the ballot count.  The ballot was recounted 3 times because results were within a margin of 5 papers for the 2nd and 3rd place candidate.  Thanks to all candidates and parents who voted. Many schools struggle to fill parent governor vacancies. It is a credit to the Fielding parent community that all parent governor vacancies are filled, usually requiring a ballot where we have more nominations and parents willing to be a school governor than vacancies.
