Learning a musical instrument requires a long-term commitment and alot of perseverance. Sometimes a cancellation can be avoidable as there may be things we can do to help. Before cancelling, If you are concerned with any aspects of your child’s instrumental tuition, in the first instance please communicate with the tutor via the practise diary or contact the Specialist Music Teacher via the admin email: firstname.lastname@example.org
However we do appreciate that in some circumstances continuing lessons may not be the best option for your child. In the event that you need to cancel lessons please read the information below:
Cancellations will only be processed for the Autumn term 2020 via the Microsoft Form online and for future terms cancellation will need to be indicated on MCAS. In order to maintain a high standard of instrumental tuition, we have to give our tutors adequate notice of their hours each term. Half a term’s notice prior to the start of the next term is required for cancellations therefore cancellation must be submitted (via Microsoft forms in Autumn and MCAS thereafter) by the deadlines below which are also at the bottom of every instrumental timetable each term. For this academic year the deadlines are as follows:
Monday 27th July 2020 - for lessons in the autumn term (due to Covid cancellation deadline for Autumn has been extended would normally be at the end of May)
Friday 9th October 2020- for lessons ceasing in the Spring term 2021
Friday 5th February 2021 – for lessons ceasing in the Summer term 2021
Friday 14th May 2021- for lessons ceasing in September 2021.
On receipt of a cancellation, your child will then be removed from the timetable for the new term. However, if you submit a cancellation after the deadlines then we cannot process it in time so you will still be liable to pay the next term’s fees because the teacher will have already been booked.
The cancellation methods stated above (Microsoft forms for Autumn term and MCAS for future terms) is the only accepted method to cancel lessons. We are unable to give refunds mid- term as the teacher has already been booked and paid for the full term. Cancellations only take effect at the start of a new term providing the cancellation has been submitted by the deadlines.
