Changes to music and French lessons for Reception, Year 1, and Year 2

We have some news about our specialist teaching timetable for children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2. Starting next week, music and French will be taught on a rotating schedule instead of every week. PE will continue to be taught weekly. Here’s why we’re making this change:

  1. Fewer Transitions: This will reduce the number of times children switch between subjects during an afternoon helping them settle better and focus more.

  2. Stronger Relationships: Specialist teachers will spend more consistent time with each class, allowing them to build stronger connections with the children.

  3. Improved well-being: A less busy schedule can lower stress levels, making learning more enjoyable.

Same High-Quality Curriculum

Rest assured, the quality and amount of time dedicated to music and French will remain the same. The lessons will just be spread out over a longer period.
